JOB TITLE:                          BUILDING MAINTENANCE WORKER - TOWERS

 

The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Building Maintenance Worker at the Booth Towers, located at the Orlando Area Command in Orlando, FL.

 

Position Type: Regular Full-Time at 40 hours per week.

 

Pay Range: $14.62 - $16.45 per hour.

 

About this opportunity: Performs minor repairs and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and vehicles; performs minor plumbing and carpentry repair work. Participates in annual building inspections, including apartments and grounds. Maintains outside lighting and security system. Performs preventative maintenance of Salvation Army vehicles, monitors, and replenishes all fluid levels. Sweeps, vacuums, strips, mops, and waxes floors as necessary. Assembles and moves office furniture including chairs, desks, tables, bulletin boards, etc. Drives vehicle in order to pick up materials and repair items needed for maintenance work. Cleans surroundings after each repair job; ensures that all tools are collected, and surroundings are left neat and clean. Monitors lighting and changes light bulbs when needed, including emergency exit lighting. Empties trash canister into trash compactor on a daily basis; maintains trash chute area. Maintains all tools, supplies, patis, and equipment. Performs data entry of completed work orders into the system. Maintains the grounds to include trimming hedges, blowing leaves, and collecting debris; maintains the beautification of the grounds.

 

What we are looking for in you: High school diploma or G.E.D. OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

Valid Driver License. Background check required.

 

Knowledge of general building maintenance practices and procedures. Ability to learn by method of on-the-job training including ability to follow instructions. Ability to perform routine and minor repair and maintenance activities of buildings and grounds. Ability to use and maintain maintenance equipment and tools effectively and in a safe manner. Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write and communicate the English language. Ability and willingness to work outside normal office hours.

 

Work some evenings, weekends as directed that are different from normally scheduled work hours, in case of emergencies, disasters, special events, coverage of shortages in staff, etc.

 

Work is performed in a normal lodging environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Work requires some heavy lifting.
