The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a part-time Store Clerk/Sorting Room Worker at the Foley Thrift Store for the Coastal Alabama Area Command.

 

About this opportunity:

Assists store customers in donating, selecting, and purchasing store items. Operates and maintains a cash register. Receives, sorts, prices and prepares donated items for display in the store. Determines suitability and pricing of items based on established standards. Maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of the store displays and assists in maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of the warehouse area

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities include:

  • Knowledge of effective customer service techniques
  • Ability to operate cash register
  • Ability to perform frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting
  • Sort & price donated items such as clothes, shoes, household items, etc.

 

What we are looking for in you:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Experience working in a retail store preferred

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Work is performed in a normal store environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather; internal temperatures can be high with occasional discomforts associated with dust, noise, crowds, chemical odors and the like.
