Location:  Clearwater Social Services

Position Type:  Regular, Full-Time at 40 hours per week

Pay Range:  $22.45 per hour -- $25.25 per hour

About this opportunity:

Plans, schedules, supervises, monitors, and participates in the day-to-day general maintenance and repair of Salvation Army buildings/ as well as Corps and quarters combination, grounds, and equipment; negotiates, supervises, and monitors all contracted maintenance services; ensures all equipment remains in proper working order and compliance with standard operating procedures and safety standards; participate in more difficult repair work; operates a Salvation Army vehicle to pick-up and/or deliver materials; assist departmental budget.

Key responsibilities:

  • Plans, prioritizes, schedules, assigns, participates and supervises the work of staff performing maintenance, janitorial, and/or housekeeping work; trains and instructs employees in the proper methods and procedures; monitors work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Plans, prioritizes, supervises, participates in, and monitors the preventative maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, utility equipment, and appliances; schedules and conducts routine inspections kitchen appliances, maintenance tools and equipment, as well as heat and air conditioning, elevators, telephone, security and fire alarm systems on a routine basis to ensure the long life of the same.
  • Supervises and monitors all contract services such as lawn maintenance, pest control, street lighting, and utilities services; ensures vendor complies with terms of contract; determines need for contractors, solicits and reviews bids. 
  • Supervises and participates in the maintenance of grounds, structures, fixtures, and decor through additions, repairs, adjustments, painting or replacement.
  • Maintains an inventory of maintenance supplies tools, equipment, maintains inventory of all Salvation Army property serial numbers.
  • Maintains a clean and organized storage area for maintenance equipment and supplies.
  • Reviews, monitors, and maintains all product warranties and guarantees to ensure maintenance and repair work is conducted in compliance with the same.
  • Assist with planning, preparing and administering of department budget.
  • Participates in loss control and safety programs to improve and control injury and loss experiences.
  • Opens/closes building as scheduled; raises and lowers all flags daily; displays special signs as needed.

What we are looking for in you:

  • Two years course work from a vocational or technical school in heating, ventilation, and air condition, plumbing, electrical, and construction trades, AND
  • Three years progressively responsible experience performing skilled maintenance and repair work for commercial buildings and grounds with six months in a supervisory capacity, OR
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Work requires driving a vehicle and working outdoors daily with exposure to physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
