The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a job opening for a Christmas Coordinator (Seasonal) - Tarrant/Ellis Counties at North Texas Area Command, located in Fort Worth, TX.  

Job Summary:

 

The Salvation Army of North Texas is hiring for a seasonal position mid-October-December who will support our two Christmas programs in Tarrant & Ellis Counties - the Red Kettle and Angel Tree. They will work directly with the Volunteer Specialist of Tarrant/Ellis Counties, with a focus on supporting/coordinating individuals and group partners (corporate, faith, civic) about volunteering at Red Kettle locations. Recruit and coordinate individual and group volunteers at four Corps Angel Tree program sorting and distribution sites. Support mall Angel Tree locations to ensure tags are replaced on the trees and outdoor Mall Angel Tree Gift Drive-Thru Drop Offs are well staffed.

 

Shifts Tuesdays-Saturdays

Hours will vary from week to week and the maximum number of hours per week is 40.

Represents The Salvation Army and speaks to potential volunteers about the Red Kettle campaign and Angel Tree program.

 

Promotes bell ringing as a volunteer opportunity to interested individuals and groups and help direct them to RegistertoRing.org to register.

 

Understands and uses the Register to Ring volunteer management database to monitor volunteer sign­ ups and schedule volunteer shifts.

 

In coordination with Volunteer Specialist, manage and schedule volunteer staff to work assigned shifts for the Red Kettle program both at bell ringing sites and Corps locations.

 

In close coordination with Corps Officers/Corps Kettle Coordinators and the Volunteer Specialist, collects Kettle donations and signs from volunteers at the end of their shifts.

 

Recruit and coordinate individual and group volunteers at four Corps Angel Tree program sorting and distribution sites.

 

Utilize CERVIS volunteer management tool to update and manage volunteer opportunities.

 

Support Mall Angel Tree locations to ensure tags are replaced on the trees and outdoor Angel Tree Gifts Drive-Thru Drop Offs are well staffed.

 

Works with Volunteer Specialist Tarrant/Ellis Counties to follow up with individual volunteers and groups to confirm their attendance and make sure they have all logistical details.

 

Meets volunteers upon their arrival and ensures they are welcomed, signed in, introduced to the volunteer or staff lead, and have supplies, talking points, and other information to meet program needs.

 

 

Gives volunteers general orientation and training to explain the volunteer role. Checks in with volunteers throughout their shift.

 

 

Serves as liaison to Volunteer Specialist Tarrant/Ellis Counties about volunteer needs and any staffing or recruitment issues.

 

Captures smartphone photos, when possible, of volunteers for possible use in social media. Following Social Media and photo release protocols.

 

Other Red Kettle and Angel Tree related duties that are assigned throughout the season.

 

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT:

General Office Equipment

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

High school diploma or G.E.D; some college.

or

 

any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

Valid State Driver's License

Vehicle or reliable transportation

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS,  AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of The Salvation Army.

Knowledge of donor relations/ methods and practices.

Ability to follow instructions and work with limited supervision.

Ability to prepare accurate and complete records and reports.

Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with Corporate/Civic/Church leaders. Ability to communicate effectively and equip donors with needed information in Angel adoptions.

 

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.

Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.

Extensive amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 75-80% of work time.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in both a normal office environment and adjacent large warehouse facility.
