About this opportunity:

This position assists the Territorial Assistant Social Services Director in leading best practices in program development, operations & requirements, including office procedures, records & reporting, program research and evaluation, program initiation/change, program guidelines, seminars/training courses, local surveys/studies, inter-agency relationships, and building specifications; aids in resolving problem situations in a timely, fiscally responsible, and compliant manner.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assists the Territorial Assistant Social Services Director in providing training and guidance for Shelter/Housing practices. Develops, reviews, and maintains program and housing resources for Divisional Social Service Directors, DHQ Officers, and field Social Service Directors. 
  • Responsible for Social Service programs and operational standards and practices.
  • Keeps up-to-date with government welfare, federal and state legislation, Christmas welfare services, and inter-agency relationships.

What we are looking for in you:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or technical/vocational school in Social Services, Social Work, Contract Management, or a related field, and a Master’s in social work is preferred, AND
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in social service program development and administration, contract management and administration, and/or service delivery preferably with Salvation Army programs. OR
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Valid Georgia Driver’s License

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to sit and work at a computer for up to 75% of work time.  Ability to travel for extended overnight trips.  Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
