About this opportunity:

This position is responsible for performing general ledger accounting functions for all recordable outside trusts administered by the Legal Department; calculates, records, tracks, and evaluates original present and future value calculations for new accounts as well as any changes (gains and losses) in values during the life of the trust.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepares annual reports for FASB reporting related to all outside trust agreements administered by the department; serves as liaison to the Financial Consolidations Director who has direct contact with external auditors responsible for sampling related trust accounting records; research questions raised by auditors in cooperation with the Legal Department staff
  • Analyzes all THQ intercompany/interdepartmental activity via the reserve accounts throughout the year to ensure proper accounting. Works with the Accounting Department to research and resolve any variances. Communicate with Divisional Consolidators to verify other side of intercompany transactions. Prepares comprehensive journal entries to eliminate reserve related interdepartmental activity at THQ.
  • Monitors, researches, evaluates, and reports changes (gains and losses) in trust present and future values; reviews, evaluates, and tracks the unique characteristics of each trust; detects and researches discrepancies and provides an internal check and balance of recordable trust information.

What we are looking for in you:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, AND
  • Three years of progressively responsible accounting and financial reporting experience, Trust Accounting experience a plus. OR
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.

 

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.

 

  • Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations with accuracy.

 

  • Ability to operate and use computer systems.

 

  • Constant amount of physical effort required associated with hand movement, holding, finger dexterity, reading, writing, eye-hand coordination, vision, hearing, talking, and sitting at least 90% of the work time; rare to occasional amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting up to 30 lbs., pushing, pulling, climbing, bending, squatting, crawling, and reaching at least 30% of the work time. 

 

Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, chemicals, extreme temperatures, or hazardous conditions
