Divisional Family Store Director
Location: The Salvation Army Georgia DHQ
Pay Rate: $69,900/year
About this opportunity:
Works with Corps Officers and the local store managers to ensure that all policies and procedures follow the GA Divisional Family Store Guidelines. Advises the Corps Officer and regional store manager to confirm that the Family Store is profitable and appropriate to the local Corps. Establishes benchmarks and tracks progress toward meeting Divisional Family Store benchmarks related to personnel costs, operational expenses, and appropriations.
Key responsibilities:
- Monitors and evaluates the work performed by Family Store supervisors and their staff; trains and instructs staff in the proper methods and procedures for completing work; inspects work in progress and upon completion to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures; serves as a consultant regarding hiring and firing recommendations; provides performance evaluation feedback of supervisory personnel to Corps Officers.
- Assist Corps Officer with developing extended-range plans for the Family Stores based on guidance from the General Secretary; sets and maintain improved conditions and procedures within the organization and the department to meet workload requirements.
- Prepares and provides information for the operations portion of the budget based on guidance and instruction received; utilizes the approved budget to govern the department’s operations.
- Reviews and analyzes the performance continually to determine the effectiveness and recommend corrective action where necessary; develops performance standards and keeps the General Secretary informed of significant facts concerning department operations. Visit each store once per month and complete a site visit report which is submitted to the local Corps Officer and the General Secretary.
- Maintains statistical information and records sufficient to maintain awareness of the available production capacity, make sales projections, and assist in short- and long-range planning. Coordinates monthly calls with Corps Officer and Store Managers to discuss benchmarks, sales analysis, and goals.
- Provide public relations assets/resources and recommendations to Corps Officers to market and promote Family Stores in the local community.
- Ensures knowledge, enforcement, documentation, and compliance with OSHA and wage and hour regulations. Works with Corps Officer to ensure corrective actions are taken promptly to maintain compliance.
- Attends The Salvation Army Advisory Board meetings when requested.
- Furnishes the General Secretary and Corps Officers with monthly reports.
- Train and certify warehouse personnel in forklift use and safety.
What we are looking for in you:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field; and
- Five years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in retail management or family store operations, or
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Forklift Certification (Accomplished within six months of Hire).
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a typical office and family store environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather. Work is performed in a warehouse environment where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Work involves driving a vehicle where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat, or discomforts related to long-distance trips or heavy traffic. Work requires the ability to lift, carry, and/or push/pull heavy (50-100+lbs.) material, supplies, and equipment frequently. Heavy mobility: duties are usually performed by combinations of standing, walking, climbing ladders or steps, bending, reaching, or transporting merchandise on a frequent change basis, relieved by fewer periods of sitting or operating a vehicle.
