Kitchen Assistant
Location: The Salvation Army Red Shield Lodge
Rate of Pay: $10.50 (Full-Time)
About this opportunity:
Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the janitorial cleaning and washing of dishes. Works with other fulltime staff and partners of the facility; Responsible for sanitation, washing all dishes using established procedures and ensuring that they are always focused on cleanliness and safety.
Key responsibilities:
- Sets up dish room following guidelines to include sanitation buckets in all areas of the kitchen.
- Changing of dish machine water on an hourly basis.
- Dish machine breakdown and set up.
- Maintains proper temperature settings for dish machine on a regular basis.
- Makes sure all dishes are placed in proper areas.
- Performs general cleaning of all food and beverage areas to include floors, stocking of soaps, paper towels, cleaning of sinks.
- Maintains the appearance, upkeep, cleanliness and organization of all food and beverage facilities throughout the meal period and the closing of the facility.
- Inspects to ensure that all safety, sanitation, energy management and preventive maintenance plans are in continual use.
- Operate three compartment sink per health department regulation.
- Assist kitchen staff with food prep.
- Complete daily and weekly cleaning and sanitation duties.
- Always checks out with Food Service Manager or Kitchen and Catering Manager.
What we are looking for in you:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- AND
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Serve Safe Certification
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements; Ability to read, write and communicate the English language; Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs; Duties are usually performed by frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting; Work is performed in a normal kitchen environment where there may be limited physical discomforts associated with working around hot stoves/ovens or cold freezers.
