Location: Clarksburg Corps – Clarksburg, WV

Position Type: Regular; Full Time; 30hrs

Pay Rate: $13.50/hour

About this opportunity:

Under the supervision of the Corps Officers and in relationship with the Regional Accountant, performs a variety of routine and complex clerical accounting functions including financial record keeping and reporting; processes billings, invoices, checks, check requests, payments and/or deposits.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process one or more of the following financial documents: invoices, billings, checks, check requests, tax reports, payments and/or deposits; reviews and verifies the same for accuracy and completeness.
  • Process all grants for renewal. Prepare monthly, quarterly and year end reports for all grants. Enter income and expenses into Sage accounting system. Assist with budgets and data for new funding applications for programs.  

 

  • Ensure appropriate staff remain aware of account balances; opens new account files and closes terminated account files in accordance with established procedures. 

 

  • Receives, records, and deposits cash receipts; prepares daily tabulations and reports of cash receipts; distributes receipts to proper funds; makes daily entries into cash receipts ledger to Sage.

 

  • Assists in preparing and reviewing various financial and statistical reports and spreadsheets for accuracy and completeness; may prepare schedule of errors.

 

  • Applies accurate code numbers to financial documents and batches totals; keypunches information into the computer to generate checks, reports, spreadsheets, and financial documents. 

 

  • Research and reconcile accounts to ensure financial documents, correspondence, invoices, payments, spreadsheets, etc. are accurate; resolves accounting problems. 

 

  • Prepare correspondence regarding the status of accounts and responds to account inquiries; ensures all correspondence is prepared in a professional and tactful manner. 

 

  • Perform data entry of financial information to prepare spreadsheet and general ledger programs for bookkeeping and reporting purposes. 

 

  • Maintain accurate and complete files of accounts, statistics, billings, invoices, and donor/client files; maintains departmental files; prepares a spreadsheet for recording expenditures and approvals. 

 

  • Compile data and generate various departmental/program reports and inventory records; monitor incoming reports to ensure accuracy and completeness before processing the same.

What we are looking for in you:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. AND

 

  • two (2) years of progressively responsible experience working in a general office with accounting and bookkeeping responsibilities, OR

 

  • any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. 

 

  • Valid WV Driver's License, required 

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to type and keypunch information into a computer. Ability to perform mathematical calculations. Ability to sort and file documents alphabetically and numerically. Ability to operate various general office equipment including a telephone, computer, and adding machine. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail with constant breaks in concentration associated with answering phones or speaking in person to clients requiring assistance. 

 

Duties are usually performed seated.  Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time. 

 

Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Work may require driving a vehicle where there may be discomforts associated with heavy traffic or changes in weather.
