Location: The Salvation Army Atlanta Temple Corps 

About this opportunity:

Plans, implements, supervises, and evaluates activities provided within a specific program area such as Christian Education, Special Education, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, and Physical Education.

Key responsibilities:

  • Promotes safety of members, quality in programs, and appearance of the Corps always. Provides guidance and role modeling to members.
  • Plans, organizes, and implements a range of program services and activities for drop in members and visitors; provides periodic activity reports.
  • Promotes and stimulates program participation; registers new members and participates in their club orientation process.
  • Participates in weekly Corps staff meetings.
  • Lead groups of children and youth in recreational, cultural, educational, and spiritual activities.
  • Maintain discipline and provide informal Christian counseling as needed. Maintain communication with parents regarding children' progress or problems. Lead group on field trips and special events
  • Plan weekly activity schedule in writing and complete program report and attendance sheet at the end of each week.
  • Coordinate all activities through the Corps Program Director.

What are we looking for in you:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D
  • Six months experience coaching and supervising athletic events and experience working with youth, or
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Valid Driver's License

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to perform various yard work including raking, loading, and hauling grass, leaves, pine straw, dirt, etc. Ability to operate yard maintenance equipment. Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis. Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor recreational environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
