JOB SUMMARY

 

A building is just a facility, inert &
inanimate; but conduct a varied and strong program within it and it becomes
dynamic, live and vibrant place of activity and feeling.  The direct responsibility of the Program
Staff is to initiate, plan and coordinate so this happens.  Ideally, there should be some constructive
activity or interest to attract and hold every boy and girl.

 

ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS

 

1.      Plan and formulate the
overall club program objectives geared and scheduled to include the interest
and needs of all age groups.

 

2.      Direct and supervise the
work of volunteers.

 

3.      Coordinate all program
activities within the organization.

 

4.      Promote and stimulate
interest in activities, by encouraging participation and posting flyers,
bulletins, and etc.

 

5.      Recruit and provide
orientation of new members.

 

6.      Assist with the Club’s
Educational and After School Programs which may include daily school bus pickup
and take home from local School/Club or periodic group trips.

 

7.      Attend and make
recommendations for staff meetings.

 

8.      Recommend needed supplies in
accordance with organizational policy.

 

9.      Counsel with individual boy
and girl members, and/or parents, as needed and keep all pertaining records.

 

10.  Assist with developing
program schedules, newsletters, special interest notices & flyers; in
accordance with Organizational policy.

 

11.  Assume other duties as may
be assigned in accordance with the Staff Manual or by local City Command.

12.  Serve as lifeguard for Club
members when the pool is in use.

 

13.  Be responsible for cleaning
locker rooms when the pool is open.


 

MATERIALS
AND EQUIPMENT

 

The employee must be able to:

 

1.      Operate all games and
recreational equipment; to include minor repairs and adjustments.  Should be able to communicate repairs to
technicians to get equipment repaired.

 

2.      Move equipment as needed
using a hand truck and wearing appropriate protective equipment including a
back brace.

 

MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

 

The employee must be physically fit as some moving
and lifting of equipment will be required. 
A high school diploma is a minimum requirement with a college degree in
business or any of the arts preferred. 
Qualified experience may be substituted for college degree. Ability to
plan, initiate and interpret activities, programs, and services based on the
developmental needs of young people is a must. 
In addition, fundamental computer skills in word processing,
spreadsheet, and database are required.

 

Lifeguards must have Red Cross Certification.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

Most work conditions will be in an office or
multipurpose, air conditioned building. 
Some activities will require outside supervision and coordination.
