The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Corps Program Assistant for the Southern Territory Headquarters, located in Clearwater, Florida. This position requires an active uniform wearing Salvationist in good standing.

 

Job Summary

Assists in the promotion of Corps growth and planning, and Army programs and services in the community. Assists in supervising and coordinating Corps program activities ensuring programs are properly staffed and materials and supplies are available. Assists in planning special events, such as concerts, Vacation Bible School and Youth Rallies, arranging appropriate event advertising as necessary. Assists in coordinating transportation. Ensures all Corps Youth Department records and statistics are maintained.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of The Salvation Army mission and philosophy.
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic Bible principles.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics.
  • Knowledge of geographic area serviced in order to schedule pick-ups efficiently.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate worship services and special events.
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate work of Corps members, volunteers, and staff.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to lead and motivate the work of subordinate employees.
  • Ability to assist the public in a polite and professional manner.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional and effective working relationships with bus drivers.
  • Ability to serve as an example of Salvationism and Christian stewardship and to demonstrate interest in the spiritual well-being of all personnel.
  • Ability to conduct all activities of the position with a view to accomplishing the Army’s fundamental purpose of proclaiming Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, which purpose must find expression in both the message proclaimed and the ministry of service performed.
  • Ability to become and remain certified to drive Salvation Army vehicles per insurance requirements.
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to lead and participate in recreational and/or athletic/sports programs.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to read and follow a map and/or hand-written directions. provider as pertaining these vehicles.

 

Education and Experience

High School diploma or G.E.D. and two years’ experience participating in ministerial work desirable, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

Licenses and Certifications

  • Must be a uniform wearing Salvationist in good standing to meet program requirements.
  • Valid State Driver's License
  • Valid State of Florida Commercial Driver's License may be required.

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Work is normally performed in a normal office or Corps environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
  • Work may require driving a vehicle on occasion with exposure to outdoor temperatures and heavy traffic.
  • Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of the work time.
