Truck Driver & Bailer

An internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for a Truck Driver/Bailer for Orange Corps located in Orange, TX

Job Summary

Drives Salvation Army owned vehicle loading and unloading routine pickups and/or deliveries of material, donated or otherwise, to serve production needs of the store and/ or general operation of corps; operates a baler machine to secure, package, and bind large volumes of clothing; loads and unloads trucks performing lifting of heavy objects on a regular basis; assists in maintaining the neatness and orderliness of the warehouse area; operates forklift to transport bale to storage truck.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of the assigned geographical area. Ability to organize pick-up tickets and to schedule route in a manner that saves time and gasoline consumption. Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with co-workers. Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army. Ability to work independently and with limited supervision.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or G.E.D. and one year experience driving a truck or van, and any equivalent combination of training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certifications:

Valid State Driver’s License

Forklift Certification (Preferred)

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write and communicate the English language effectively. Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing. Ability to drive a box truck safely and in compliance with laws, policies, and regulations. Duties require frequent periods of physical mobility including but not limited to standing, walking, climbing, bending, squatting, and lifting. Physical duties may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of sitting. Extensive amount of physical effort required associated with lifting, moving, and carrying heavy objects (more than 50 lbs.) frequently.

Working Conditions:

Work requires driving a vehicle daily with exposure to the outdoors where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

Work is sometimes performed in a normal warehouse environment where there are physical discomforts associated with changed in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
