Childcare Teacher

The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a great opportunity full-time Family Life Center Childcare Teacher supporting the mission of the Evangeline Booth Training College located at 1032 Metropolitan Parkway SW, Atlanta, GA 30310. Position comes with superior employee benefits and pays up to $17.30/hr. Candidate will need to be flexible in work hours, have a drivers license and the ability to drive a small bus or van to transport children.

Job Summary

Provide childcare services for the children of Officers and Cadets attending the college for Officer training. Plans, develops, implements, and maintains the classroom environment, establishing a positive and ongoing relationship with children and parents; works to maintain a positive teamwork relationship with peers and parents.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of the principles and practices of child behavior and development, Principles and practices of early childhood curriculum development, Principles and practices of First Aid and C.P.R and ability to ensure the safety of children, Ability to teach children Christian values as well as general early childhood education curriculum, Ability to plan, develop, and implement effective childhood programs and activities.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or G.E.D. and two years experience working with children  in a church or pre-school, OR any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications

Drivers License required 

Ability to earn C.P.R and First Aid certification

Requirements and Working Conditions

Work is performed in a normal childcare environment where there is little or no physical discomfort associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Requires ability to ride in small bus to supervise the transport of children to field trip activities and school required.
