Senior Product Owner

Position Summary:

 

Reporting to and under the general direction of the Product Manager, the Senior Product Owner acts as a subject matter expert for a defined set of products and business capabilities. This role is highly collaborative and will require direct interaction and collaboration across multiple product development teams and initiatives. The Senior Product owner is the primary point of contact for business stakeholders, requiring strong communication, negotiation and consensus-building skills. The SPO is also responsible for creating long term Product and Capability roadmaps, pitch decks, launch planning, gathering and documenting business and functional requirements and any external communication.

 

This position is remote. In order to qualify for this role with UniGroup, you must live in one of the following states: Missouri, Illinois, Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Texas, Florida, or Indiana. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Leads development and maintenance of the long-term product roadmap; involving sales, marketing, finance, operations, clients, prospects, partners, and other groups as needed.
  • Maintains expertise in applicable technical platforms/applications and techniques, acting as an organizational expert for a specific business space.
  • Works closely with Product Owner to document business and functional requirements, including new features, major and minor enhancements for implementation and release notes.
  • Mentors Product Owners and new teammates including knowledge sharing and onboarding activities.
  • Participates in strategic planning meetings to further refine, document, and communicate product roadmaps and ensure alignment to overall domain and organizational deliverables and timeline.
  • Communicates and explains strategic direction and priorities across impacted development teams.
  • Ensures tight collaboration and alignment with Design, Engineering, Program, Process and Change Management teams. 
  • Provides demonstrations for major releases to customers and business stakeholders [pre-release] and gathers feedback.
  • Responsible for driving business case development in support of new product development, as well as documenting bi-annual competitive market analysis for applicable products and capabilities.
  • Performs a variety of other duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications:

Education, License or Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IS or equivalent experience.

 

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience as an Agile/Scrum Product Owner or equivalent preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in Agile Product Development environment preferred

  • Leadership/Change: Experienced in leadership messaging and presentation, ability to manage by influence, ability to balance multiple strategic initiatives at once.
  • Accountability: Exhibit a strong sense of ownership and accountability committed to ensuring success of the programs assigned as well as the organization as a whole
  • Business: Maintains working knowledge of business objectives to maximize contribution toward company results.
  • Communications: Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication and listening skills; possesses the ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization.
  • Language: Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Technology: Proficient in using multiple software programs and web-based applications such as e-mail, Microsoft Office Suite products, internet browsers, etc.
