About This Role:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team in Atlanta as a Veterinary Surgical Technician II in Atlanta!  This role will support the veterinary surgical team by managing post-operative care of animals and assisting with surgical procedures.

What You Will Do:

  • Prepare animals for anesthetic procedures including pre-op medications, induction/intubation, preparing surgical sites
  • Manage the post-op care
  • Maintain prep room, assemble surgical supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures, and prepare surgical instrument table
  • Performs timely and accurate record keeping and data collection
  • Able to perform surgical procedures with veterinary supervision and train surgical staff
  • Assists in protocol design and assist program leadership to execute all milestones of a research project
  • Provides daily care and support to the laboratory animals

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Associate Degree plus 2-4 years of relevant work experience in a clinical setting
  • Knowledge of medications calculations used in laboratory animals
  • Good understanding of safety protocols for clinical environment and animal care
  • Good knowledge of equipment and techniques used in the surgical setting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to execute medical orders and research protocol instructions without supervision
  • Ability to perform anesthesia, surgical procedures on laboratory animals with supervision
