Job Summary:

The Lending Assistant II will support Veritex Community Bank’s relationship banking culture through exceptional customer service and superior product knowledge. This role provides administrative support to the line of business Portfolio Manager (PM), Client Manager (CM) and Relationship Manager (RM) including closing loans, preparing loan worksheets, collecting, and ordering necessary documents such as flood certificates, title work, appraisals, etc. depending on line of business requirements. The Lending Assistant II is the primary point of contact for customer service and supports the RM and CM (and/or team of) in relationship management.

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

 

  • Work directly with borrowers to collect all information necessary for loan processing (CIP information, entity documents, OFAC, etc.).
  • Request 3rd party reports and disclosures as required by federal and Bank policy (title work, flood searches, UCC searches, environmental reports, etc.) and review for accuracy and completeness. 
  • Submit underwriting requests, review approval to ensure terms are correct and obtain appropriate levels of approval. 
  • Request loan documents, verify the accuracy of loan documentation by checking the collateral description, interest rate, maturity date, closing dates, etc.
  • Schedule and facilitate loan closing with borrower, attorney, and Title Company. 
  • Ensure Regulatory documents are collected as appropriate (AML policies, Risk Assessments, etc.).
  • Monitor Loan Exception reports and submit proper documentation to clear exceptions prior to month end and quarter end deadlines.
  • Ability to notarize legal documentation.
  • Work with Loan Operations Funding Department to close, fund and book the loan.
  • Gather and track original loan documents and send to Loan Operations department.
  • Partner with Community Banking Centers and Corporate Deposit Specialists on the following: account opening, stop payments, transfers, account fee waivers, check order, outgoing wires, and EDD requests.
  • Submit approved documentation for all loan advances to Loan Operations Advance Department.
  • Request 3rd party reports for construction advance requests (AECC Report and Down Date Endorsement from Title Co, etc.)
  • Monitor past due report and notify clients listed on the report.  Continued follow-up with clients if necessary. 

Prepare necessary reports for RM/CM; including but not limited to past due loan payments, overdrawn accounts, and NSF’s. Consistently follow bank policies and procedures.Ability to review and approve NSF items per delegated authority.Work directly with clients to request ongoing documentation required for covenant monitoring (financial statements, borrowing base certificates, A/R, A/P, inventory reports, tax returns, financial statements, etc.).Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required based on business need.

 

Job Skills and Qualifications:

 

  • High School Diploma or GED required.  Some college strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of Commercial Banking or Lending Assistant experience preferred.
  • Moderate knowledge of HMDA, ECOA, TRID and other relevant lending regulations.
  • Moderate level of knowledge and understanding of loan documentation.
  • Ability to learn quickly in a client-facing environment.
  • Must be detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of personnel.
