POSITION SUMMARY

The Registered Nurse provides primary care to patients of all ages, within the scope of experience and training in the outpatient and/or other facility settings. The Registered Nurse performs acts, which require substantial specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills based upon principles of psychological, biological, physical, and social sciences. The professional nurse is responsible and accountable for making decisions that are based on the individual’s educational preparation and experience in nursing. They are responsible for performing tasks and procedures that are: within the scope of his/her educational preparation and knowledge, permitted by the policies and procedures of Connections Wellness Group, and permitted by other local, state, and federal guidelines. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.

Experience:   Prior experience in mental health psychiatric practice preferred

License: Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of TN

Additional Requirements: CPR certification and SAMA training within 30 days of employment.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports teamwork essential for compliance with accrediting and regulatory agency standards through surveillance, effective prevention, and control activities specific to a variety of practice settings, and accurate report.
  • Application of the nursing process in assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating patients and patient care to include:
    • Identifying and providing for physical, emotional, and developmental patient needs.
    • Counseling and providing health teaching to patients and their families; explaining the procedures planned for the patient.
    • Assessing patients according to policy in PHP/IOP Level of care.
  • Conducting RN groups for PHP/IOP patients in line with current patient curriculum. RN group topics are within the RNs scope of practice.
  • Providing discharge education including medication education upon discharge.
  • Conducting Code Blue drills at least quarterly.
  • Answer phones promptly utilizing the skills/techniques/script approved by Connections Wellness Group, LLC administration.  
  • Medication management for all clients that consists of calling pharmacies and acting as a delegate for practitioners when appropriate for electronic prescription submission of non controlled medications.
  • Complete prior authorizations from pharmacies in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Ability to establish communication with appropriate sources in response to emergency situations.
  • Providing for and respecting the patient’s privacy and confidentiality.
  • Notifying appropriate persons promptly of unusual reactions and changes in conditions.
  • Documenting all pertinent information appropriately.
  • Receiving and giving report.
  • Safeguarding and inventorying equipment and supplies.
  • Demonstrating courteous, cooperative, and respectful behavior.
  • Ability to obtain information and interpret this information in terms of the patient’s needs.
  • Knowledge of growth and development.
  • Assess and interpret age-specific data.
  • Understand of the range of treatments needed by these patients and possess the skills to perform the treatments.

  • Demonstrates ability to listen to patient/customers regarding problematic issues in in a non-defensive manner.

  • Adheres to attendance requirements. Utilizes correct procedure for taking time off.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of Medical Staff Bylaws, Consulting Staff Bylaws, and Operating Agreements in place.
  • Knowledge of facility policies and procedures.
  • Must have excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills to effectively communicate ideas/problems/instructions (oral or written) with staff, employees, and Connections Wellness Group management staff.
  • Ability to analyze situations, evaluate data, recommend/implement courses of action that would improve the functioning of systems/processes he/she is involved in.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to use good judgment and keep the information confidential.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in an emergency.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND SPECIAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to sit for long periods (8-10 hours),
  • Ability to see well enough to read handwritten and typewritten material.
  • Ability to stand and walk the facility grounds.
  • Ability to handle a variety of repetitive tasks at a moderate level.
  • Ability to occasionally handle electrical, mechanical, or equipment emergencies.
  • Available to work varied hours (i.e., evenings) as required, maybe on call as needed.
  • Ability to travel between facility locations, and at times, the corporate office.
  •  Ability to drive a motor vehicle to designated sites.
  •  Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks under deadlines and with short notice.

For PHP/IOP services, the applicant must have been discharged from the program at least 2 years prior to applying for employment.
