Distribution Mechanic III

Summary

The Distribution Mechanic III is responsible for maintaining and repairing all equipment, piping systems, valves, and machinery at our power plant located in Baltimore, Maryland. This is a full-time hourly position and reports to the Distribution Manager. The compensation range for this position is $33.00-37.00 per hour plus a 10% bonus target.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe working conditions in accordance with established Company policies
• Identify, report and/or correct unsafe work environments
• Operate all hand/power tools in a competent manner
• Install, repair, replace, and trouble shoot piping systems, valves, steam traps, pumps
• Perform preventive maintenance as scheduled
• Must be able to work overtime as required
• Exercise caution in the use and maintenance of all company equipment
• Respond to emergency situations immediately and work quickly to correct the problem(s).
• Participate in training to continue education and skills in craft
• Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing
• Perform other duties as assigned by Distribution Manager
• Participate in training to further welding skills, as needed by the department
• Takes rotating, on-call (beeper) on weekends, back shifts, and holidays
• Must be able to work overtime as required

Qualifications and Experience

Required Qualifications:

• HS Diploma or GED

• Minimum one year experience in an industrial maintenance setting
• Ability to work with minimum supervision 

• Ability to perform basic computer operations and use email

Preferred Qualifications:

• Valid MD 4^th or 5^th Grade Stationary Engineers License
• Minimum one year Pipefitting experience
• Minimum one year Welding experience
• Minimum one year Rigging certification

Physical Requirements 

• Ability to lift and maneuver up to and including 50 pounds
• Ability to work in confined spaces
• Ability to climb and tolerate heights up to 100 feet
• Must complete pre-employment screenings including a company physical exam and respirator fit test in addition to drug testing
• Must be able to walk, stand, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach
• Ability to tolerate heat
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and insurable by Company’s vehicle insurance carrier
