Summary

 

The Plant Operator/Mechanic is responsible for operating, maintaining, repairing plant equipment and distribution systems, and reporting any issues with piping valves and machinery. The ideal candidate will be trained under the lead operator to become a solo plant operator and will be trained under the lead mechanic to better understand the operation and function of the plant equipment. Once fully trained, this position will be assigned to a solo operator position. This is a full-time, non-exempt, non-union, position located in Oklahoma City, OK.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Maintain safe working conditions in accordance with established company policies.
  • Identify, report and/or correct unsafe work environments.
  • Assures compliance with all applicable environmental regulations.
  • Participates in on-scene work taking direction from others.
  • Operate all hand/power tools in a competent manner.
  • Install, repair, replace, and troubleshoot plant equipment to include basic piping systems, valves, traps, pumps.
  • Perform preventive maintenance.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Exercise caution in the use and maintenance of all company equipment.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.
  • Must be willing to work holidays and shift work.

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • HS Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 1 year of maintenance experience in an industrial or technical environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Required to qualify as a Boiler Operator within one year.
  • Required to obtain Universal Refrigerant Handling License within one year.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Oklahoma State Class 2 High Pressure Boiler License.
  • Oklahoma State Class 3 or 4 Low Pressure Boiler License.
  • Mechanical Journeyman’s License.

 

Physical Requirements 

 

  • Must submit to pre-employment physical exam and drug screening.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver up to and including 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces such as boilers, tanks and manholes.
  • Ability to climb vertical ladders up to 50 feet.
  • Ability to pass a respirator physical and respirator fit test.
  • Ability to tolerate heat in an industrial production plant environment.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and insurable by Company’s vehicle insurance carrier.
