SUMMARY:  The Director, Operations effectively leads and develops the teams, to obtain optimum productivity, while reaching strategic goals. Manages operations processes to ensure sufficient quantities of quality product on time and on budget, in order to meet marketplace demand. Lead, plan, coach and direct the Continuous Improvement Function to ensure safe production of high quality products to meet customer needs in the most cost effective manner.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Establishes processes, benchmarks, tracks systems, timelines and procedures for implementation of best practices.
  • Review operational metrics and other performance data to ensure optimal productivity and KPIs are met/exceeded.
  • Cooperatively works cross-functionally with other management to ensure appropriate allocation of resources and ownership.
  • Works within quality procedures and accepted manuals to ensure compliance.
  • Manages crisis resolution to ensure continuous flow of operation under designated budget.
  • Ensures that resources are utilized effectively and drives improvements/efficiencies. Perform shop floor optimization, lean improvements, and ensure resolution to drive growth.
  • Promotes a safe work environment with an ultimate goal of zero accidents.
  • Manages staff selection, performance, development and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations.
  • Directs cost reduction and process improvement to ensure efficiency of operations and cost effectiveness.
  • Leads materials and logistics problem resolution to ensure availability of materials and smooth operations, including but not limited to Shipping and Receiving.
  • Liaises with customer service and supporting departments to understand customer needs and issues and ensure that the customers receive satisfactory standards of services.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS  

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10 years of relevant/technical work experience and 7-9 years of leadership experience OR
  • An additional 4 years of specific work experience in lieu of degree.
  • Excellent ability to provide strategic leadership and develop comprehensive budgets
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams, etc.)

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • 14+ years of quality work experience
  • 10+ years in the aviation industry
  • 10 + years in a supervisory role
  • Proficient with time-studies, lean principals and successful application of some of the improvement tools
  • Complex problem solving and decision making with a proven record of results orientation
