Loan Origination Specialist

Washington Trust has an exciting opportunity for a Loan Origination Specialist to join the Retail Mortgage Lending division.  The Loan Origination Specialist provides support to one or more Mortgage Originators in servicing their mortgage loan customers.  This position is an excellent opportunity for someone with exposure to lending who is looking to develop a career in mortgage sales or services.  A passion for providing excellent customer service and follow through is essential for the successful candidate. 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Disclose and monitor loans to be sure all loans stay in compliance.
  2. Set up mortgage loan files in origination system (Encompass).
  3. Work proactively with loan officer by reaching out to customers to obtain quick turnaround time on receiving signed disclosures back from borrowers/customers.
  4. Guide the customer through the application process.
  5. Request specific documentation for review and reach out to borrower to obtain these documents.
  6. Review all documents received to be sure package is complete and address any missing documentation with loan officer and borrower.
  7. Update/upload all pertinent documentation to Loan Origination system and keep all information in system up to date.
  8. Submit loans to processor notating what is missing and what has been requested.
  9. Follow loan to ensure timely closing.

 

This position requires a high school diploma or GED, and two years of relevant administrative support experience in a mortgage lending environment.  The ideal candidate will be familiar with the guidelines for all types of mortgage loans including Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, FHA, VA, and RIHMFC.  This position requires high attention to detail, strong organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, working independently with a sense of urgency, and the ability to use the Microsoft Office suite and CRM.  Effective communication and interpersonal skills are required.  This position will be hybrid and requires NMLS registration.
