What is the Opportunity?

The Technician is primarily responsible for the implementation and execution of Water Mission's Safe Water and Sanitation projects in Peru. The technician's activities are based on field visits to various projects in the Loreto region and building sustainable solutions. They are also responsible for maintaining water treatment systems and Healthy Latrines.

Job Responsibilities:

IT and Administration:

  • Maintain the Water Mission database, "The Pump," updated using the assigned email.
  • Monitor the success standards of each project.
  • Keep the local database updated, along with the physical project folders.
  • Complete and upload various project forms to the system.
  • Take photographic and video evidence of the work performed.
  • Conduct training sessions for operators and prepare training reports.
  • Report various activities regarding time and resources.
  • Report expenses, planning, and itineraries.
  • Complete any other control forms as necessary.

Technical Area:

  • Drive Water Mission vehicles (not mandatory).
  • Handle various construction tools and field measurement equipment.
  • Manage safety equipment.
  • Manage inventories.
  • Install and maintain LWTS (plumbing and electricity).
  • Install and maintain various types of water treatment systems.
  • Install and maintain electrical systems (AC – DC).
  • Build pits, floors, and cabins for healthy latrines.
  • Maintain the healthy latrine.
  • Handle concrete mixing.
  • Interpret blueprints (preferably).
  • Assist in the preparation of periodic execution reports to ensure quality and timely delivery of verification means.
  • Perform technical tasks in the field and engage in corrective maintenance of basic infrastructure: sanitary installations and water storage and distribution systems in communities, schools, and selected health centers.
  • Distribute materials, equipment, and supplies required for project activities in the selected communities, schools, or health centers.
  • Support various technical training programs by applying the planning, methodology, and tools established by the area.
  • Assist the Project Engineer, Community Development, and Water Mission in implementing campaigns to promote proper hygiene habits, self-care, and access to safe water in normal or emergency conditions.
  • Provide information to the Project Engineer about project implementation and context.
  • Maintain and update digital and printed files of safe water and sanitation component documentation, ensuring confidentiality and security.
  • Represent the organization on matters related to this component if requested.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor or Water Mission leadership.
  • Support efforts to promote education in different components, such as Safe Water, Sanitation, Hygiene, Water Mission, and coordinate activities related to improving living conditions for the most in-need families.

Job Requirements:

The candidate must be aware of the responsibilities implied by the activities described above. They should agree with Water Mission's philosophy and meet the following qualifications:

  • Commitment to the organization's mission.
  • Good analytical skills and problem-solving abilities using initiative.
  • Availability for professional and skills growth while performing the job to improve interpersonal relationships, commitment to the Statement of Faith, and Code of Conduct.
  • Problem-solving skills (knowing when and how to seek help and advice).
  • Technical studies in Industrial Electricity (technical/university, graduate or certified), preferably.
  • Complete secondary education or full technical certification.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license (A1) and driving skills, with availability to travel (not mandatory).
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle care and services (not mandatory).
  • Passport, preferably.
  • Full-time availability.
  • 1-2 years of experience in some of the previously mentioned activities in similar institutions and roles, preferably.
  • Ability to verify knowledge and work experience with necessary diplomas.
  • Strong understanding of the organization's objectives, program strategies, projects, and activities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with relevant staff within the organization.
  • Intermediate level computer skills.

  • Basic proficiency in spoken and written English, preferably.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Must demonstrate legal authorization and unrestricted ability to work in Peru
