What is the opportunity?

The Program Manager must have extensive knowledge of program management principles, a strategic mindset, and the ability to lead and grow the team. The objective is to ensure that each program is successfully implemented and adds the highest value to the organization. Additionally, they will serve as Water Mission's senior representative in the region for public relations and the development of relationships with other NGOs and regional/local governments. Their activities are based in the Iquitos office (Peru), working under the supervision of the Country Director in a full-time position.

Specific Job Duties:

  • Develop and execute an annual operational plan (includes annual goals and prioritized projects).
  • Plan programs from start to finish, including deadlines, milestones, and processes.
  • Design, execute, and monitor the operations and office budget.
  • Participate in the creation of the strategic plan and its evaluation process, generating progress, results, and corrective reports in due time.
  • Supervise all area coordinators involved, offering feedback and resolving complex issues.
  • Prepare reports and monitor work plans.
  • Manage annual operational plans, five-year country plan, and program goals.
  • Manage the design, supervision of construction projects, installation, operation, and regular maintenance of treatment systems, sanitation, community development education, and Water for Life systems, among others.
  • Ensure that program activities and operations comply with legal guidelines and internal policies.
  • Keep senior management informed with detailed and accurate presentations and reports.
  • Occasional field visits for quality inspections, task compliance, problem-solving, or staff training.
  • Represent Water Mission in the region by developing relationships with other NGOs, municipalities, and in public relations (with support from the Director).
  • Actively participate as a member of the Country’s Senior Management Team (SMT) in SMT meetings and strategic decision-making at the country level.
  • Ability to organize staff workloads and keep the team functioning smoothly.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and use reasoning skills to address them.
  • An intuitive sense of timing and appropriateness in terms of projects.
  • Discover ways to improve staff efficiency and productivity in procedures.
  • Apply principles of change, risk, and resource management when necessary.

  • Participate in or lead internal activities in line with the organization’s mission and core values.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Alignment with Water Mission’s Statement of Faith and core values of Love, Excellence, and Integrity.
  • Maintain a servant leadership model towards colleagues, partners, communities we serve, and the public, aligned with the organization’s mission and core values.
  • Participate in or lead internal activities aligned with the organization’s mission and core values.
  • Graduate in engineering or related fields. A master’s degree in management or a related field will be valued.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience, including proven experience in program management.
  • Proven experience in program management, ideally in non-profit organizations or the humanitarian sector.
  • Experience in managing international cooperation projects.
  • Practical knowledge of MS Office.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in annual and multi-year operational planning.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and effectively manage projects.
  • Strategic vision and ability to develop and execute effective strategies.
  • Ability to organize staff workloads and keep the team aligned with objectives.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and use reasoning skills to address them.
  • An intuitive sense of timing and appropriateness in terms of projects.
  • Impeccable level of integrity in handling funds responsibly and transparently.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate ideas and provide constructive feedback.
