VDC Engineer - Sanford, FL

Job position for Piping Designer / Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Coordinator

Position Overview: Wharton-Smith, Inc., a highly regarded General Contractor based in Central Florida, is seeking a talented Piping Designer/Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Coordinator to work on projects in the Commercial, Education, Entertainment, and Water Treatment construction markets.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Preparing piping 3D models using Spec Driven software AutoCAD Plant 3D.
• 3D coordination and clash detection using Navisworks.
• Generating piping shop drawings with Bill of Materials.
• Modeling equipment, structural assemblies and concrete structures in 3D.
• Producing 2D layout drawings.
• Maintaining effective communication with Project Engineers and assisting the project teams by providing the needed information for construction.
• Assisting in BIM Coordination.
• Gathering measurements and information in the field.
• Document management.
• Assisting in the creation of animations by using Sketch up and Lumion.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Graduation from high school.
• Computer Aided Drafting and Design Certification or 2 years of experience in computerized design and drafting. AutoCAD preferred.
• Must be able to multitask, work on teams, and be able to interact with clients, architects, subs, etc.
• High attention to detail.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Outstanding communication skills.
• Willingness to gradually take on more responsibility.
• Ability to assume leadership roles.
• Must possess a positive attitude, an outstanding work ethic and be team-oriented.
