POSITION SUMMARY

The SEPI-CT” (Substance Exposed Pregnancy Initiative) Program Specialist is responsible for increasing awareness and use of Family Care Plan throughout the state.  Program Specialist works under the direction of the Program Manager in collaboration with funders and key stakeholders across the state.     

 

 

SALARY

$49,106

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

BS/BA/BSW in related field plus some related experience required. Must have strong computer skills. Valid Drivers License is required. Safely operates vehicle in the community, based on program needs

 

Lived experience or knowledge of substance misuse and behavioral health preferred.  Experience with creating and facilitating trainings, as well as collecting process data, and creating charts and presentations preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Creates, disseminates, and tracks marketing activities (including 211, Connecticut Clearinghouse, Facebook, Spotify, Instagram and other community platforms) to increase awareness, understanding, and development of POSC.

 

Trains hospitals, community providers, and other state agency staff regarding CAPTA notification system and POSC.

 

Creates a database to track trainings on POSC and CAPTA, and creates reports to demonstrate initiative progress.

 

Collaborates with local hospitals to establish relationships, answer questions, and provide support regarding POSC and CAPTA

Conducts outreach and engagement activities across multiple community sectors.

Partners with programs serving women and children to support efforts to increase POSC    awareness and understanding.

Attends regular administrative meetings and other meetings with DCF and DMHAS, stakeholders, and partners, as required, to report on accomplishments, challenges, progress, and next steps.

Develops and maintains records of all completed activities and meetings attended.

Provides regular updates  and reports as  required by the funder.

Adheres to all relevant program standards, guidelines, codes of ethics, and confidentiality.

Develops and maintains holistic knowledge of populations being served including cultural, ethnic, sexual orientation, gender, and ability difference.  Provides culturally competent services and maintains sensitivity to and respect for clients' cultural traditions, values, and beliefs.

Promotes the Center for Prevention, Wellness and Recovery at Wheeler and its activities throughout the state.

Interfaces and collaborates with funders, and other community stakeholders to support positive system development and to promote Wheeler’s reputation as an innovative quality service provider.

Continues to develop knowledge and understanding about the history, traditions, values, family systems, and artistic expression of groups served as well as uses appropriate methodological approaches, skills, and techniques that reflect an understanding of culture.
