Lab-Montaner - Administrative Coordinator

An Administrative Coordinator position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Luis Montaner to support the Montaner research program and the newly funded HIV Cure and Viral Diseases Center (the “Center”) at The Wistar Institute. The Administrative Coordinator is a front-facing role which includes welcoming guests and visiting dignitaries. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative, regulatory, and laboratory management support for Dr. Montaner and the Center. Duties include but are not limited to coordinating Dr. Montaner’s calendar, scheduling conferences/meetings/appointments, supporting and/or coordinating visits and events, providing general and other assistance to lab and Center staff, manuscript preparation, content editing, maintaining laboratory social media presence, coordinating travel arrangements, providing editorial support for grant preparation and related reporting documents, and ordering office equipment or other supplies. Occasional evening or weekend hours are expected to support program objectives.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience and demonstrated success working in a front office position in an academic environment and display excellent attention to detail, good judgment, awareness of the need to serve as a first-person of contact for the Center, the ability to work independently with limited direction, demonstrates initiative, strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and excellent organization.

High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Candidates with a minimum of 5 years of high-level secretarial/administrative experience and a proven level of responsibility are strongly preferred.

Familiarity with grant proposal preparation and HIV/AIDS issues/research are a plus. Excellent computer skills, including working knowledge of Mac/OS, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Adobe Photoshop, social media, and Google Documents are required. Spanish language skills are helpful, but not required.
