Starting Salary $72,000 - $102,000

Position Summary Description:

Directs warehouse activities for organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overall warehouse and transportation operations for Hilo facility.
  • Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of KPIs and AIPs to drive performance and achieve business objectives.
  • Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of financial discipline and budget awareness to support informed decision-making to improve profitability.
  • Manages operational costs by making informed financial decisions regarding work hours, equipment, and variable expenses to maintain budgetary control.
  • Create development plans with specific benchmark goals with operations and transportation employees.
  • Responsible for ensuring all operations and transportation employees achieve branch and company goals.
  • Creates and executes training plans using standard operating procedures that align training needs with business objectives.
  • Responsible for the effective development and coordination of group training programs on all warehouse operations and transportation systems based on standard operating procedures.
  • Works with Human Resources to create and update new hire on-boarding and training programs.
  • Conducts follow up studies of all employees who have completed training sessions to evaluate and measure results and check for comprehension and retention.
  • Manages and inspects physical conditions of facility and equipment used in all operations and maintenance.
  • Prepares work order for repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment.
  • Confers with department heads and logistics to ensure coordination of warehouse activities with other functions such as Purchasing, Sales, Customer Service, Inventory Control, and Quality Assurance.
  • Manages the HACCP Program to ensure compliance, effective implementation, and continuous improvement across all facilities by:
    • Keeping HACCP plans current and updated annually.
    • Ensuring personnel are trained in each facility and actively monitoring Critical Control Points as outlined in the company’s HACCP Program.
    • Maintaining and filing all necessary records for compliance and audits, adhering to required retention periods.
    • Overseeing monthly self-inspections, ensuring proper documentation, and reporting findings to higher management.
  • Directs salvage of damaged or used material.
  • Ensure safe operational practices, procedures, and policies are followed by Operations personnel.
  • Performs similar and related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Uses the Company’s Mission/Vision Statements and Core Values as their guiding principles.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; counseling employees, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems in a timely manner.

 

Operational Readiness:

  • Update standard operational procedures for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory current.
  • Optimize efficiency and productivity by ensuring all essential components for smooth operations are in place, including streamlined processes, well-trained teams, and the appropriate technology and resources to reduce downtime and improve overall productivity.

 

Direct reports include Warehouse Employees (Day), Warehouse Employees (Night), and Transportation.

Qualifications:

Education/Training and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field and/or three or more years of distribution or warehouse experience, including three years in a supervisory capacity. Foodservice experience highly preferred.
