POSITION SUMMARY:

The Southtowns Family YMCA has immediate openings for housekeepers, who will follow the daily schedule to clean and sanitize all areas of the facility. 

 

GENERAL WORK SCHEDULE:

20 - 25 hours per week.  Availability to work evenings 5pm - 10 pm and weekends 9am - 6pm is required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Cleans and sanitizes all areas of the facility according to the daily schedule including rest rooms, locker rooms, kitchen/lounges, and sauna/steam room.
  2. Uses the appropriate equipment and janitorial supplies correctly. Reports problems to the supervisor.
  3. Follows facility protocol to clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces, including doorknobs, tables, chairs, light switches, etc.
  4. Dry/wet mops hard floors. Vacuums carpets.
  5. Washes windows, dusts surfaces.
  6. Empties trash and recycling containers.
  7. Completes facility maintenance logs as directed.
  8. Responds quickly to clean spills and resolves unsafe conditions promptly.
  9. Is knowledgeable of and follows all YMCA and OSHA safety standards including Hazard Communications. Wears required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  10. Maintains the cleanliness of the grounds. Clears (shovels, sweeps) walkways, removes garbage.
  11. Carries out other tasks as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum of one year of experience in housekeeping, and/or custodial work.
  2. Working knowledge of the tools and equipment used to clean and sanitize.
  3. Ability to read, write, understand, and follow directions.
  4. Ability to work well with others.
