General Function

The Early Learning Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher will be responsible for the planning, development and implementation of all classroom activities, including the HighScope curriculum.

 

Education/Experience/Training/Certifications

  • An Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) is required
  • An Associates’ Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Child development and Family Studies or Early Childhood Studies is preferred, not required
  • A minimum of 3 semester hours or 4.5 ceu’s in infant/toddler development is required
  • Minimum 1 year documented experience working with young children age 0-5 years is required

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plans and implements the program in accordance with YMCA standards, branch goals, and Michigan law
  • Plans and implements a consistent child centered program in accordance to the HighScope curriculum and YMCA standards
  • Monitors the quality, appearance, maintenance and storage of all supplies and equipment needed for the program
  • Understands each child and their family’s specific needs. Effectively communicate with families through daily conversations and journals, documentations, newsletters, and Family-Teacher conferences
  • Supervises all volunteers and/or students assigned to work in the classroom. Supervise all staff in absence of the Development Director.
  • Performs other assigned duties as directed by Supervisor
