Day Camp Coordinator

Join the Nissokone team this summer! The Day Camp Director will be primarily responsible for the planning and execution of our summer day camp program. This position will help schedule the daily activities, supervise children ages 5-12, and manage other day camp staff.

PAYMENT:

Weekly stipend, on-camp food and lodging provided during working times.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervising groups of campers between 5-12 years old in day camp programming

• Checking campers in and out of day camp each day

• Planning and scheduling day camp activities

• Facilitating camp activities safely and with enthusiasm

• Maintaining professional conduct with campers and parents

• Helping out in all areas of camp as necessary

• Managing and working productively with day camp staff to create a great camp experience for our campers

• Behavior management of campers

• Maintaining a positive group dynamic within day camp and activity groups

• Providing feedback to colleagues in order to collectively improve our programs

• Helping facilitate activities for weekend rental groups as necessary

IDEAL CANDIDATE:

• Makes the best of any situation

• Strong work ethic and moral responsibility

• Prior managerial experience preferred

• Prior experience or interest in working with children from diverse backgrounds

• Ability to communicate and work with others effectively

• Strong problem solver and comfortable with conflict resolution

• Enthusiastic and high-energy

• Willing to learn new skills

• Open-minded and willing to push his/her own comfort zone

• CPR/First Aid certification preferred (training will be provided if not currently certified)

YMCA Camp Nissokone serves youth and teens from Southeast and Northern Michigan and beyond. Our overnight and day camp program serves approximately hundreds of children each summer to experience all of the beauty and adventure that nature has to offer.
