As a growing, mission focused, and future-oriented association of YMCAs, the Metro YMCA of the Oranges has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, mission-driven, candidate to join our team.

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Program Coordinator shall design and implement activities tailored to the skills and interests of each age group for program area of responsibility. They will work with other staff to bring about quality programming, with safety and fair play as priority. Activities should nurture creativity, cooperation, skill and self-esteem.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • At all times, maintain a professional demeanor, as a representative of the YMCA. Wear YMCA T-shirt every day.
  • Follow and ensure implementation of the USA Pickleball and YMCA rules and guidelines.
  • Develop, plan, set up and manage Pickleball programming, including open play, leagues, tournaments, clinics and social events.
  • Manage schedules of Pickleball courts; create reservations in the Pickleball den systems for court times, classes, and all associated activities for quality program.
  • Maintain all supplies associated with Pickleball program and overall administrative day-to-day operations.
  • Must maintain and record daily "court usage" and attendance for Center records.
  • Monitor and ensure all software schedules and reservations are up to date daily.
  • Ensure facility areas are maintained according to guidelines.
  • Ensure equipment on-site is in good working condition.
  • Work to promote the Pickleball program and upcoming events through weekly membership EBlasts, Pickleball activity booklet, Facebook, emails, digital TV's, bulletin boards etc..
  • Ensure good sportsmanship, Pickleball etiquette, and core values are fulfilled.
  • Consistently greet participants with a smile and with enthusiasm. Learn all participants’ names.
  • Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
  • Adhere to all standards, especially maintaining participant safety as a top priority. Ensure supervision standards as detailed in the YMCA’s Code of Conduct are followed at all times. Report immediately any concerns to the Director.
  • Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
  • Uphold, model, teach and put the four (4) core values of the YMCA into action in all activities: Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility
  • Create a positive and nurturing learning environment to instill and encourage youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma, Associate/Bachelors Degree in Education, youth work, recreation or related preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in recreation or related field.
  • Professional Pickleball Registry (PPR) or International Pickleball Teaching Professional Association (IPTPA) Certification.
  • 4+ Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating (DUPR).
  • Technologically proficient with use of various computer software systems/applications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to relate to and communicate in various venues, i.e., public speaking, presentations.
  • Proven ability to facilitate learning in others and ability to supervise others.
  • Understanding age specific characteristics and positive behavior management techniques.
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be capable of being on your feet for long periods and be able to actively supervise participants and staff in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments. Must be capable of bending, kneeling, squatting and lifting 30 pounds. Must be able to visually account for all participants in the program, whether inside or outside. Must be able to hear whistle or alarms. Clear speaking voice is needed to command control of group.
