​The Mechanical Testing Technician  is responsible for providing support in the areas of product testing, test documentation, test development, laboratory planning/organization, test fixture/machine design, and coordination/calibration of laboratory equipment. This position will lead moderate to complex testing assignments and projects with multiple departmental interactions. 

  • ​Set-up and conducts tests of product assemblies, subassemblies, components, and arrange for any outside testing as per agreed upon test plan and protocols.
  • Accurately record test results of numerical and observed data, and document with written test reports.
  • Provide feedback in relation to design, rated specifications and test objectives based upon observed results in partnership with associated engineering groups and project teams.
  • Participate in test plan development with new product teams to recommend and develop test methods and acceptance criteria for validating product performance requirements.
  • Provide support, direction, and follow up in the development of new test fixtures and equipment.
  • Provide resting support for product life cycle, manufacturing, and quality assurance related activities.
  • Coordinate and organize the proper maintenance and calibration of all laboratory equipment.
  • Prioritize work to align with the goals of the department and various project teams.
  • Review personal progress within projects on a consistent basis and work to maintain time-lines.
  • Seek out and demand accurate inputs and produce only quality work product for your downstream customers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

​High School Diploma and (one) 1 year related work experience. Associates or Technical School degree preferred. Must possess knowledge of mechanical principals, algebra, geometry, technical writing, specifications and print reading. Must possess basic knowledge of data acquisition techniques, programming, and test lab equipment. Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word), analysis and design software. Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to adapt and function in an environment of changing priorities often under tight time constraints.

Physical Demand Requirements

Occasionally required to stand, walk or sit; use hands to grasp, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; use fingers to touch, pick or pinch objects; reach with hands and arms; push or pull; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; use foot or leg controls; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. For all jobs no one should lift over 50lbs on their own. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
