Instructor/Facilitator (Multilingual Swahli, Lingalam Kinyarwanda) Restorative Justice

The Culturally Specific Restorative Justice Facilitator designs and delivers restorative justice training programs tailored to diverse cultural communities. This role involves conducting workshops, facilitating dialogues, and collaborating with community leaders and system partners to enhance understanding and application of restorative justice principles. The facilitator also evaluates program effectiveness and provides cultural expertise to ensure practices are respectful and impactful.
This is a part-time position, working 25 hours per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design culturally relevant training materials and programs that incorporate restorative justice principles.
- Conduct workshops, seminars, and training sessions for community leaders, educators, justice practitioners, and other stakeholders, adapting training methods to accommodate various learning styles and cultural contexts.
- Collaborate with community leaders, organizations, and stakeholders to identify specific needs and cultural considerations.
- Facilitate discussions and dialogues to enhance community understanding and engagement with restorative justice including conducting restorative justice cases and outreach with police and other system partners to enhance collaboration and support for restorative justice initiatives.
- Assess the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, surveys, and evaluations.
- Provide expertise on how restorative justice can be effectively applied within different cultural contexts.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires experience and understanding of restorative justice in all aspects, to include empathy, strength-based approaches and ability to work through complex situations with a high degree of integrity and autonomy
- Lived experience that enhances relatability by people from communities disproportionately impacted by the criminal justice system
- Associate degree or equivalent in restorative justice, conflict resolution, social work, psychology, counseling specific or related field; substantial relevant experience will be considered in place of degree
- Certificate in Restorative Dialogue Facilitator is required within 120 days of hire. Equivalent credentials may be accepted, depending on individual program or location requirements.
- Bilingual in Swahili, Lingala, Kinyarwanda or other languages from East Africa and English, both spoken and written, is required.
- Basic mastery of business applications and productivity suites
- Demonstrates resilience, awareness and self-regulation in navigating challenges, conflict and obstacles/barriers.
- Thrives in a diverse and multicultural environment; works with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies to enhance end-user experiences throughout the service lifecycle
- Demonstrates exceptional commitment to serving and advocating for diverse and marginalized populations
- Works in a variety of settings, including and not limited to LCSNW office locations, partner agency and community-based settings, client home/community settings, outdoor settings in varying weather conditions, and faith-based settings such as churches
- Meets LCSNW criminal background clearance requirements and other job-relevant clearances as required by the State or program
