POSITION SUMMARY: The position supports LCSNW’s Community Behavioral Health Program in substance use and mental health community outreach and engagement. The Community Outreach Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, leading, and implementing a community outreach and engagement strategy to address behavioral health disparities and prevent substance use disorder in Refugee, Immigrant, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color communities.

The Community Outreach Coordinator will also work closely with the Community Behavioral Health Program Manager in designing and coordinating all community outreach and engagement events. In addition, through presentations, training, and workshops, they will connect people and communities with resources, education, and information about mental health and substance use disorders.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Community engagement through presentations, education, consultations, meetings, workshops.
  • Mobilize, engage, collaborate and partner with community organizations, faith institutions, governmental partners, individuals, families, and youth to implement community-led engagement and awareness processes.
  • Collaborate with LCSNW staff, attend weekly meetings, and training.
  • Advocate across systems for Refugee-Immigrant, BIPOC behavioral health equity.
  • Facilitate culturally specific community assessment and data management.
  • Complete monthly reports of outreach and engagement activities, data tracking and grant reporting.
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant program/department requirements; including and not limited to adhering to all record-keeping and reporting requirements.
  • Model and encourage direct, professional communication among staff members and facilitate development of a positive staff support network.
  • Demonstrate awareness and sensitivity in the delivery of client services as it relates to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the populations served.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

 

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required/Certificate in Addiction Counseling/Behavioral Health.

 

Transportation: This position requires reliable transportation for business purposes, such as between work locations and community settings.

 

Language Skills: Excellent communication skills with the ability to read, write, and speak in English.

 

Clearance: Standard LCSNW criminal clearance, including national sex offender. ORCHARDS background clearance. SAM/OIG.
