The Staff Accountant Financial Reporting will play an important role as part of the financial reporting team and assist in various aspects of SEC reporting, technical accounting, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX). The candidate in this role will play a key role in our quarterly external reporting cycle including, but not limited to, financial statement analysis, preparation of financial statements and footnotes, annual intangible asset impairment tests and other ad-hoc financial reporting requests. The position is based in our Duluth, GA office and a hybrid work arrangement provides the opportunity to interact with senior and executive management on a regular basis.
Job Responsibilities Include:
- · Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings and related earnings releases, including preparation and review of supporting work papers.
- · Assist in the preparation of all transaction-related SEC reporting requirements (8-K, debt offerings, equity offerings, etc.).
- · Assist in researching and documenting the Company’s position on technical accounting matters.
- · Assist with the accounting for acquisitions and divestitures.
- · Assist in the support of Asbury’s company-wide SOX program and the coordination with Internal Audit and our external auditors throughout the different phases of the annual reporting cycle.
- · Support quarterly reviews and the annual audit by our external audit firm.
- · Assist the Manager of Financial Reporting with equity, stock compensation, lease accounting, and interest rate swaps and other accounting matters.
- · Assist with the annual impairment testing of the Company’s goodwill and franchise rights intangible assets.
- · Prepare work papers supporting key monthly close processes and analyses.
Education:
- · BS in Accounting and/or Master of Accountancy
- · CPA (or in the examination/licensing process)
Experience:
- · 2+ years of public accounting experience
- · Experience with financial reporting for SEC registrants is preferred
- · Big Four experience is preferred
Skills / Characteristics:
- · Strong analytical and organizational skills
- · Detail oriented
- · Good written and verbal communication skills
- · Knowledge of US GAAP accounting
- · A strong work ethic and ability to work independently and in a collaborative work environment
- · Proficiency in the full suite of Microsoft Office applications, in particular, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- · Experience with Workiva and OneStream is a plus
