Starting Pay Rate: $18.00/hour

General Job Description 

The Associate II role will be responsible for receiving produce and raw foods, assembling, shipping, labeling, and/or packaging foods to customers using manual assembly and equipment.  Must be able to work in all temperature-controlled environments. Follows all safety and health standards.

Major Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Works with some level of independence to Receive foods, assemble Meal kits to recipe specifications, ship kits following Good Manufacturing Practices, and meet health and safety standards

  • May be training to do a bigger job, work in a variety of areas, conveyor/ assembly lines, receiving, shipping, inventory, and other processes independently. The duties may be routine from week to week, but there is some variety experienced to learn more or move up in the business.

  • Operates or can operate multiple pieces of IT equipment (approximately 50% of total equipment) within at least 2 departments

  • Package kits following prescribed processes and procedures. Deviation from normal processes must be approved

  • Rotate and check food ingredients for freshness. May receive products and verify the accuracy of the delivery. May be required to sanitize items and ensure accurate traceability methods are followed

  • Keep work area/assembly clean, demonstrating clean-as-you-go practices

  • Prepares and understands a variety of routine paperwork associated with food preparation, packaging, labeling, and controls.

  • Ensures all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) are followed and may champion the GMP processes. At times may be assigned to other areas other than where they normally work 

  • In coordination with the team lead, identifies issues with the product, Food Safety, Quality, or equipment, escalates matters to other departments or higher levels when needed

  • May be assigned other tasks associated with the warehouse operation as needed

Qualifications for the Job

Skills and Requirements

  • A minimum of 6 months experience working in a food manufacturing environment applying common processes, procedures, and equipment.

  • Experience applying and enforcing routine Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) in a chilled food environment is essential.

  • Knowledge of quality assurance practices

Experience / Education

  • General high school degree/GED or equivalent preferred

  • Ability to follow all appropriate safety standards in food production

  • Knowledge of basic math and reading comprehension skills

  • Must be 18 or older to apply as required for machinery and/or equipment utilization

Physical Requirements/Work Environment and Conditions

Work Environment:  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to a variety of varying weather conditions, trash, waste, chemicals and other materials. The noise level in the work environment and facility can be loud. The employee must be able to adapt to working in an environment that is chilled and where surfaces may be slippery. 

Physical Requirements: Sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 40lbs; pull/push up to 60 lbs, grasp small products, and identify very small variations in the product.  Sight is required for observing work and production.  May spend several hours using a computer to create reports, analyze data and respond to inquiries and issues.  May be exposed to active machinery and moving equipment, food particles, and trash. May be required to use a forklift or other machinery.
