Microbiologist

 

Integrated Analytical Solutions, Inc. (IAS) is a GLP and ISO-17025 compliant contract research organization (CRO) specializing in bioanalytical and analytical testing for the biopharmaceutical industry as well as a cannabis testing laboratory within the state of New Jersey.  Our laboratory is located in Hamilton, NJ.  Our company culture is built on the principles of teamwork, customer satisfaction and scientific integrity.

 

Job Summary:  The microbiologist is responsible for the testing, quality control, and tracking of cannabis samples for microbiological assays – Total Aerobic Microbial Count, Total Yeast/Mold Count, Salmonella, E. coli, Total coliforms, Listeria monocytogenes, and Shiga Toxin producing E. Coli (STEC) – utilizing traditional growth plate techniques as well as qPCR.  Previous experience with a cannabis testing lab is a plus.

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • PhD, MS, or BS in microbiology or related discipline with previous cannabis safety testing experience.
  • 2+ years relevant lab experience using culture-based microbiological as well as qPCR/PCR-based analysis.
  • Knowledge of ISO-17025 Standards.
  • Previous Experience in cannabis safety testing is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to successfully work in a team environment.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply technical and product-related information in a professional consultative manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all organizational levels
  • Must maintain a high level of integrity, personal motivation, and sense of urgency
  • Attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
  • Must pass criminal background check.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Follow policies and procedures for the daily operations and fully comply with ISO-17025  and New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission (NJCRC) requirements.
  • Proficiently utilize Microsoft Excel and various laboratory information management systems.
  • Participate in and endeavor to complete training and be determined competent for sample collection and sample preparation using aseptic techniques.
  • Prepare samples independently using aseptic techniques for all test methods trained and determined competent, including compliant documentation of associated forms and logs.
  • Responsible for accurate measurement and documentation of all product weights.
  • Responsible for cleaning of lab glassware and general lab cleaning
  • Works in a timely manner, strives to improve quality and maintain accuracy.
  • Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned by supervisor, which may include cannabis sampling and transport.
  • Follow company SOPs, all rules, regulations, and laws for the transportation of items for cannabis testing.
  • Willingness to cross-train with the bioanalytical techniques using instrumentation such HPLC, LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, and ICP-MS

 

PREFERRED

  • Prepare samples utilizingtraditional growth plate techniquesas well as qPCR.
  • Producing, tracking, and documenting QCs throughout process.
  • Use of aseptic technique to handle, prepare, and analyze samples.
  • Responsible for inventory of supplies and cannabis tracking and destruction.
  • Responsible for accurate weighing and recording all product weights.
  • Works in a timely manner and strives to improve quality and maintain accuracy.
  • Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned, which may include cannabis sampling, transport, and sample preparation.
