SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Production Group Supervisor I will oversee and coordinate the activities within their assigned production group unit in an efficient manner to achieve the optimal, cost-effective manufacturing process methods in accordance with product specifications, Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) and quality standards. The supervisor is aware of all activities in their assigned APU and acts daily to tasks or concerns.  The individual ensures that company policies and guidelines are accurately interpreted and implemented.  


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

HSE:

•    Safety starts on the shop floor. Supervisor identifies and anticipates safety risks and fixes it before the risk can occur.
•    Ensures that all manufacturing and HSE team member concerns are resolved or communicated to the production unit team.
•    Responsible for the supporting and implementing company safety programs, organizes the meetings in small group to allow production to keep running with half the team.
•    Conducts HSE audits and risk assessments in his/her area. Ensures adherence to safety rules. Disciplines employees who violate safety regulations and/or perform work improperly.
•    Responsible for attending all HSE training courses as required and adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements and safe operating procedures at all times.
•    Continually seek opportunities to improve our HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting results.
•    Suggests and implements waste elimination initiatives specifically related to the function and department such as EMS and recycling opportunities.


Quality:

•    Inspects products in process in his/ her area to verify conformance to quality specifications. Directs setups and adjustments of machines as needed.
•    Manages Batch Rejection Rate by communicating and counseling operators regarding non-conformance and participating in 8D root cause analysis activities by auditing process control.
•    Ensures assigned team members are utilizing Statistical Process Control (SPC) and other tools to manage their quality output.
•    Maintain high standards of performance, quality and customer service within all departments.
•    Maintaining a working knowledge of ISO policies, procedures, and directives. 
•    Required to bring any known or suspected nonconformance for all company procedures or legal requirements to management’s attention immediately.


Production, Planning, Maintenance, LEAP:

•    Ensures production goals are met within the assigned production group in order to meet production unit goals and deadlines.
•    Assigns and schedules work to the assigned production group in coordination with other supervisors and production unit support team.
•    Identifies bottleneck and ensures that those areas are treated with the highest priority: workforce, equipment, load to optimize the throughput.
•    Drives the OEE improvement by solving the existing problems (mixed parts, bad quality of incoming parts etc…)
•    Enforce an overlap system for team members to cover lunch break, rest periods and switch over between shifts in their perspective area.
•    Recommends and schedules overtime of team members for the assigned production group when necessary to achieve production goals. 
•    Drives LEAP projects in his/her area (PSM, CONWIP, KANBAN, 5S, etc…)
•    Reports preventive maintenance and machine downtime concerns to the maintenance support team.
•    Supports the production unit action plans in order to achieve the company's long-term goals and objectives.


Management:

•    Executes corrective actions to team members as required per company policy. 
•    Responsible for adhering and implementing company policies and guidelines as prescribed by management
•    Responsible for staff development, assessments, and ensures new team members selected to join the organization have the training and development necessary to integrate them into our continuous improvement culture. 
•    Responsible for coaching team members for improved performance, conducts performance evaluations, and recommends compensation reviews within company guidelines.
•    Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams and ensure support teams have clear objectives to complete needed tasks on time.
•    Ensure all team members placed under their assigned area of responsibility are complying with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local and State government laws, and LISI Aerospace policies, procedures and plans.

•    Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.

•    Technical “know how”- Supervisor must have a broad understanding of the technical aspects of the work on the shop floor (machines/ products). This can range from a practical understanding through being able to operate equipment himself, especially for the bottleneck area.
•    Technical skills- In manufacturing processes and methods including flow, layout, assembly and production equipment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, and use shop and measuring tools (calipers/ micrometers). 
•    Organized & anticipates- Supervisor looks ahead and acts proactively. Reviews the future load and adjust staffing accordingly. Prioritizes and plans work activities of self and others; Uses time efficiently; Plans for resources in a creative way only adding cost when absolutely necessary; Sets goals and objectives; Organizes or schedules other team members and their tasks; Develops realistic action plans.
•    Communication- Good communication is a critical part of team management.  The tactic and production plan have to be communicated clearly to the team, including the details such as bottlenecks and priorities. The status of the department has to be communicated to the next shift in a formalized form. Supervisor should speak clearly and persuasively to get his point across in positive or negative situations, listens intently to others and seeks clarification; provides clear and pleasant responses to inquires regardless of the situation; demonstrates positive group interactive skills.

Supervisory Responsibilities  
Directly supervises team members within their assigned production group unit; Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include, but not limited to interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; HSE responsibility; addressing concerns and resolving problems.
                             
ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education and/or Experience
•    Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/ Manufacturing Engineering preferred
•    Minimum of 2 or more years of supervisory experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment required
•    Minimum of 4 years equivalent combination of education and supervisory aerospace experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment required.
•    Familiar and understands Lean Manufacturing Processes

Language Skills 
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret manufacturing procedures.  Ability to write reports and ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers, as needed.

Mathematical Skills                               
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference; Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability                               
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

Computer Skills                               
Advanced knowledge of department programs (i.e. Statistical Process Control & Shop Floor System), Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.  Working knowledge with company Timekeeping System.

Physical Demands

Work Environment 
The noise level in the work environment may be loud.  Employee will be required to wear personal safety equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and proper steel toe footwear (PPE) in specified areas.

•    Ensure compliance with procedures, instructions, HSE guidelines and golden rules 
•    Ensure that procedures and instructions are always adapted and updated
•    Ensure the acquisition and maintenance of the skills of its employees in relation to the tasks performed by its teams
•    Ensure that the equipment under his/her responsibility is in good condition and operates without risk. If this is not the case, he/she will ensure that protective measures are taken and/or that the equipment is consigned
•    Identify and deal with HSE risk situations during the appropriate SHP
•    Manage emergency situations with the help of the OHS and first response team members
•    Relay and animate HSE communication within his/her teams
