Job Summary

The Centralized Accounting Manager is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, monthly reporting and reconciliations for a portfolio of MCR’s hotels. The position will also prepare monthly occupancy and sales taxes and perform other financial and analytical tasks as required.  The ideal candidate will need strong analytical, interpersonal and communications skills.  The position interfaces with all levels of the organization from senior leadership to on-site general managers.  In addition, this position will assist with the annual budget process and preparation of audit work papers.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Perform all month-end close duties for assigned properties including journal entries, bank reconciliations and other balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Review monthly general ledger accounts for accuracy
  • Prepare monthly financials for hotel entity
  • Monitor and enforce internal controls pertaining to assigned properties
  • Reconcile intercompany balances between all portfolios and parent company
  • Calculate and process various tax payment (including sales tax, occupancy tax, tourism tax) on a monthly or quarterly basis, as required
  • Assist with new acquisitions, including set up of utilities, expense and revenue prorations, and transfer of contracts
  • Support annual audits by completing required audit schedules and supplying supporting documentation
  • Assist with special projects and provide support to other real estate-related activities, funds, and investments

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance
  • At least 3 years of accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience in accounting for commercial real estate or a multi-unit operator is preferred
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities and written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Sage Intacct preferred
  • “Big Four” or audit experience preferred; CPA is a plus
  • Desire and drive to develop into a finance and accounting leader within our organization
