GENERAL DESCRIPTION

This is highly independent and responsible position reporting to the Production Manager.  The Process Technician will serve as an expert on injection molding machines, auxiliary and processing equipment.  Strong trouble shooting skills required.  Responsible for mold changes, set-up & process troubleshooting.  Provides technical training, direction, and hands-on technical leadership.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Set up, start and process shoot injection-molding machines in accordance with standard work.

2. Ensure all secondary equipment is setup and running accurately.

3. Diagnose production problems and make adjustments.

4. Document changes to cycles and job log during set up/start up.

5. Communicate and repair all malfunction of equipment or tooling to the proper support department.

6. Complete TPM (Total Preventative Maintenance) on assigned presses.

7. Complete all documentation pertaining to injection molding machine set up and tool cleaning/prepping.  

8. Ensure molds are cleaned/prepped and tagged/staged properly per standard work.

9. Assist operator Teams with operating problems.

10. Assist in training Process Technician I’s as needed.

11. Material handling and quality checks. 

12. Use strong problem solving skills to trouble shoot molding machines and auxiliary equipment.  Determines the root cause of machine alarms. Makes all necessary adjustments and tool or machine repair recommendations. 

13. Oversees all validations and tool approvals for their assigned shift.  

14. Evaluates resins to molding performance.  

15. Ensures production times are met.  

16. Check and complete all paperwork associated with the setup and adjustments of tooling, machines and auxiliary equipment.  

17. Ensure compliance with all associated procedures applicable to the manufacturing process.  

18. Maintain a safe working environment.  Maintain a good housekeeping policy.  

19. Communicate best practice to other team members and shifts.

20. Other projects and tasks as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

• 5+ Years experience as an Injection Molding Process Technician in an Injection Molding Facility.  Machines from 10-720T.

• Experience in medical molding operations and robots are a plus.  

• Must provide own tools.

• Minimize equipment downtime.

• Leadership and training experience preferred.  Be fully conversant with all equipment, tools and measuring instruments associated with the manufacturing cycle.  

• Knowledge of processing characteristics of different types of materials (i.e. PET, PP, & PVC).

• Experience in cGMP, ISO 13485, lean manufacturing, 5S, process troubleshooting, and root cause identification are key components of this position. 

• Familiarity with clean room operations, understanding of Scientific Molding. Ability to program, start & troubleshoot molding machines and robots. 

• Should have good mechanical aptitude, be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment and have general knowledge of hand tools.  

• Capable of reading and understanding blue prints.  

• Must be willing to work off shift and overtime.

 

EDUCATION GUIDELINES

 

High School Diploma is required.  Technical degree is preferred. Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree for a candidate who can demonstrate the combination of experience, training and education to be capable of successfully fulfilling all duties and responsibilities of the position.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS   


Heavy Work - Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and / or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
