Production Supervisor - 2nd Shift

2ND SHIFT / 2PM - 10:30PM 

Purpose of Role:

The production supervisor will act as a liaison between the production manager and production staff to meet the customer requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for directing and managing the production staff on handling different job task on the floor.
  • Coordinate production activities through planning with the production manager and inventory staff.
  • Manage the production schedule to ensure goals are being met, so customer orders are not missed.
  • Control flow of material, utilization of labor to ensure adequate work is being accomplished.
  • Maintain an ongoing check of all production process, equipment operation, and ensuring employees stay on task. This is a hands-on job, and the supervisor is on the floor 70% of the time with his/her subordinates helping to get the job(s) completed.
  • Review daily/weekly production reports
  • Provide leadership and training to staff to accomplish our company goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the process of pulling material from railcars through a push/pull system.
  • Setup, oversee and ensure completion of packaging into gaylord boxes, super sacks, and bags.   

Minimum Qualifications / Education / Certifications

  1. Education:
    1. Bachelor’s Degree – preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent required. 
    2. Minimum of 4 years of related experience in a similar role, including people management; responsibility to include the following:
  • Staff planning; decision-making; facilitating process improvement; taking responsibility for subordinates’ activities; provides regular performance feedback; continually works to improve supervisory skills. Treats people with respect; works with integrity and upholds organizational values.
    1. Forklift certification – preferred.
  1. Demonstrates strong leadership and people skills. Results oriented with solid communication skills (written, electronic communication, and verbal).
  2. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  3. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals.
  4. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  5. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Inventory software; Order processing systems; Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  6. Capable of developing project plans and communicating changes and progress.
  7. Demonstrated leadership capabilities; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality within the facility.
  8. Uses quality system to assist with Quality Management initiatives.
  9. Observes safety and security procedures.
  10. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

 

Work Environment / Conditions

The work environment/conditions described herein are representative of those that an incumbent may experience, and therefore must be adaptable to.

  1. Must be comfortable working in a shared space, with constant noise.
  2. This job operates both interior and exterior of the building; the incumbent will be exposed to outside weather conditions.
  3. The job on a rare occasion works in elevations up to seventy-five feet.
  4. Schedules may vary from week to week based on business demands in excess of 40 hours with or without notice.
  5. All injuries regardless of severity must be reported to your Supervisor/HR immediately.

  4. While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to travel by foot, forklift, golf cart, or other means of transportation which require sitting, waiting, and standing for long and short periods of time.
  5. The incumbent must frequently lift and move items over thirty pounds.
  6. This role requires walking and on a rare occasion climbing ladders or stairs approximately twenty feet in elevation.
  7. Repeatedly reach with hands and arms
