Diesel Mechanic - Full Time

Job Location: 205A Flowood Drive, Flowood Mississippi

Job Schedule: Full Time. Day Shift. Monday through Friday, 7am-4pm CST. Occasional Weekends Required. Nights/Evenings may be required as the business needs change. Schedule Subject to Change, Based on Business Needs.

Job Summary: SCA maintains of fleet of sweepers, dump trucks, flatbed trucks, pickup trucks, trailers, attenuators, and various other support equipment. The Mechanic position includes opportunities for advancement and learning the industry in its entirety, including sweeping and lead operations. Work will include preventative maintenance and light repairs of various chassis manufacturers and upfit configurations.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform all levels of preventive maintenance services including advanced repairs, diagnose and repair malfunctions using computer diagnostic software, identify warrantable repairs, and document repair orders.
• Maintain accurate records of each repair performed.
• Maintain the cleanliness of trucks and support equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of the shop and yard.
• Perform chassis preventative maintenance and light repairs to chassis and up fit components.
• Complete inspections and associated repairs.
• Assist in the management of the shop.
• Assist in Daily Reporting.
• Perform required inspection of Broom Sweeper/Dump truck, Pre-trip and Post-trip, as required.
• Perform the safe operation of Broom Sweeper/Dump truck, as required.
• Complete assigned job(s) in the time allotted while maintaining quality of work.
• Exercise extra caution during inclement weather.
• Report any equipment failures, near misses or accidents to Lead or Supervisor within 8 hours.

Job Requirements:

• Must have a minimum of two years or more Mechanic experience and/or completion of trade school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Toolbox and basic hand tools, Required.
• CDL A or B, Required.
• Acceptable MVR, Required.
• DOT Med Card, Required.
• 1 year of CDL Operation, Preferred.
• Basic Computer Skills, including Microsoft Office Suite of Products, Required.
• Use all required PPE and work safely.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work a flexible schedule, including overtime on occasion.
• Ability to work in high noise environments with exposure to vibration and fumes.
• Active, physical work occasionally involving lifting 50 lbs. Frequently involves carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, reaching and standing.
