Monday - Friday (Hours may vary)

The Corporate Safety Manager is responsible for managing the safety program for the entire
company footprint - this includes both internal safety programming as well as regulatory
programming. Additionally, the Corporate Safety Manager serves as a resource for all departments on a
variety of topics, including safety initiatives, training, and related corporate initiatives.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS

  • Administers various safety and retention initiatives for company personnel as directed;
    leads in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to include
    updates and revisions to the safety manual.
  • Leads the development of safety goals, objectives, and practices.
  • Responsible for managing and developing all regional safety managers
  • Identifies and participates in the investigation and resolution of ongoing employee safety
    concerns, anticipates problems whenever possible, and develops, recommends, and
    initiates appropriate steps for resolution.
  • Reviews and evaluates all work-related accident reports for completeness and clarity of
    data; analyzes data, as needed, to ensure compliance with Budd Group policy and
    regulatory requirements.
  • Participates in department staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
  • Coordinates and participates in strategic planning aimed at reducing the incidence of
    worker's compensation-related injuries.
  • Makes strategic recommendations for reducing the frequency and severity of losses
    through the use of a workers' compensation database and/or other claims data reports;
    designs and develops databases; performs integrated data analyses and prepares
    reports.
  • Conducts or coordinates safety audits to evaluate the effectiveness of safety processes
    and awareness, identify existing or potential risks and develops and/or recommends
    corrective or preventive measures for a safe and healthy environment.
  • Travel to branch & field offices and/or customer sites needed (one day/ week). More
    extensive travel during open enrollment and peak project management and support
    (8-10 nights/ one month) may be required.
  • Coordinates company wide safety training for frontline employees.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
  • Responsible for claims management of workers’ compensation, general liability, and
    automobile claims.
  • Assists in the annual renewal evaluation of various insurance policies.
  • Supports the business development team on safety information required for new
    proposals and regular business reviews
  • Manages any and all interactions with OSHA or state equivalents.
  • Manages any customer required safety database subscriptions

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

Education
Four-year degree or equivalent work experience (Degree in Safety, HR, or Business preferred)
Experience
Three years of safety experience
Bilingual preferred.

Certification
OSHA 10 hour or 30-hour course completion preferred
Certified Safety Professional
