Position Overview: As the facility EHS Specialist you will report directly to the plant manager and work with facility leadership to ensure a culture of safety. This role involves a combination of technical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and leadership to ensure the well-being of employees and protection of the environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, local, and Voyant Beauty environmental and Safety regulations.
- Promote a Safety-First culture through leading Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) such as awareness training, Good Catch/Near Miss Program, Corrective and Preventative Actions, etc.
- Implement safety programs, policies, and procedures to minimize workplace incidents.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards with the facility and implement measures to mitigate risk.
- Develop and deliver EHS training including New Employe Orientation, compliance-based, and job specific safety training for technical subject matter (i.e., confined space, LOTO, and PIT).
- Maintain accurate records and documentation including but not limited to, regulatory reports, permits, and incident reports.
- Complete required site audits and inspections including but not limited to, Stormwater inspections, Hazardous Waste Inspections, Periodic LOTO Inspections.
- Lead Incident Investigations and function as subject matter expert to ensure root cause is understood and corrective actions implemented to prevent recurrence.
- Work closely with other departments to integrate safety and environmental considerations into the planning and executions of projects and day-to-day operations.
- Performs workers compensation claim management including the Return-To-Work program and compliance with the Ohio BWC.
- Maintain facility EHS Roadmap and Compliance Calendars.
- Function as subject matter expert for EHS related customer and regulatory Audits.
- Other duties as requested.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, occupational health or safety related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 Years EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of federal, state/provincial, and local environmental regulations.
- Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral) and work collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and take ownership of tasks.
- Rigorous attention to detail and ability to produce quality work while meeting deadlines.
- High-Level computer abilities.
