What is the opportunity?

The Impact Report and Proposal Writer is primarily responsible for creating custom impact reports for Water Mission’s individual, church, foundation, and corporate partners, with the goal of equipping relationship managers to keep partners engaged in and connected to Water Mission’s work. This individual will also support organization-wide standardized impact reports. In addition, the Impact Report and Proposal Writer will help to create custom proposals that can be shared with partners interested in particular areas of Water Mission’s work. This role adheres to the team’s report and proposal schedule, ensuring that Partnership Directors can submit reports and proposals on time. The Impact Report and Proposal Writer will collaborate with the Sr. Manager of Partnerships Reporting and Proposals, Partnership Directors, and relevant Program staff to develop proposals and reports. This individual must have superior attention to detail, the ability to collaborate across multiple teams, the flexibility to work in a highly fluid environment, and a proven track record of meeting deadlines. The position reports to the Sr. Manager of Partnerships Reporting and Proposals and can be based remotely or at Water Mission’s headquarters in N. Charleston, SC.  

 

A successful Impact Report and Proposal Writer will:

General Duties 

  • Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, donors, volunteers, and the general public.
  • Engage and participate in prayer before and after team meetings.
  • Lead and participate in biblically based staff devotions.
  • Maintain high-level knowledge of Water Mission’s organizational objectives, program strategies and goals, priority projects, and key partnerships.
  • Manage support requests and document process and communication flow using the Smartsheet project management software
  • Effectively communicate about the global water crisis and how Water Mission is addressing it in various contexts. Clearly articulate Water Mission’s vision, mission, values, and solutions to various audiences.
  • Collaborate closely across multiple departments and identify opportunities for information sharing.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Research, Information Gathering, and Content Development for Impact Reports and Proposals

  • Develop assigned reports and proposals from start to finish, including clarifying expectations and needs for requests, gathering existing programmatic data, requesting additional information from relevant Program staff, requesting internal reviews and approvals, and sharing finalized deliverables with the requestor.
  • Manage a detailed schedule of report and proposal development, including tracking deliverables and due dates in Smartsheet. 
  • Assist Partnership Directors in keeping partners connected and updated through customized impact reports. 
  • Assist Partnership Directors in inviting donors to partner with Water Mission by providing engaging proposals.
  • Help deliver comprehensive, results-oriented donor proposals, impact reports, and stewardship materials with urgency and accuracy for the Investor Partnerships and Global Partnerships teams.
  • Work collaboratively with local and international colleagues to stay informed of Water Mission’s programs in each country; national and world events; and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) sector trends.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with colleagues in the Marketing & Communications, Investor Partnerships, Global Partnerships, and Programs teams to ensure transparent communication and streamlined processes. 
  • Support the Sr. Manager of Partnerships Reporting and Proposals in collecting data and writing content for end-of-year impact reports.

What is required?

  • Ability to consistently represent Water Mission professionally and effectively communicate the organization’s mission and purpose. 
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in nonprofit grant writing and/or reporting. Experience in the WASH sector preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate ideas and feedback in a constructive way. 
  • Knowledge of AP style and the ability to learn a house writing style and brand voice.
  • Ability to work in a highly fluid environment, respond to changing requests, and handle competing priorities. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse groups of people.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Home internet bandwidth strong enough to support video conferencing and other job-related responsibilities.
  • Commitment to the values and mission of the organization and ending the global water crisis.
