Job Summary

Set up and operate CNC and Tooling Equipment to produce specified tooling.

Job Duties

Must program/operate CNC lathe
Select and set tooling to suit different parts/jobs
Program and operate CNC Controller
Make necessary adjustments to existing programs
Perform tool offsets and insert changes
Inspect parts, troubleshoot and report any difficulties with development/tool issues immediately to supervisor
Ability to read and build from a blueprint
Knowledge and use of measuring tools
When required develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated.
Read and review engineering drawings, customer provided part drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, and grinders.
Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
Fit and assemble parts into complete assembly.
Confers with engineers, operators or others to resolve production problems.
Must be a team player
Follow all Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies and procedures.
Other duties may be assigned or required for this position.

Experience and Education

Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience running and programming the CNC
Experience with CMM operation and programming
Ability to create conversational programs (G&M Code)

Competencies/ Skills

Ability to interpret work instructions
Ability to follow written and verbal directions
Basic verbal and written communication skills
Basic mathematical skills
