Hours: Monday – Friday 5:20 – 2:00pm (Optional Saturdays, Daily start and end times may vary)

Rate: $17/Hour to start, opportunity to earn raises and bonuses based on performance

Job Description:
Saad Meats, a leading supplier of high-quality meats located in Detroit's Eastern Market, is looking for a detail-oriented and reliable Meat Scale Operator to join our team. The Meat Scale Operator will be responsible for accurately weighing and labeling meat products, ensuring product quality, and assisting with the overall efficiency of our production and packaging process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate digital and manual scales to accurately weigh meat products for packaging and shipping.
• Ensure each product is weighed according to the specified standards and labeled correctly.
• Inspect products for quality and consistency before weighing and packaging.
• Assist with portioning, cutting, and preparing meat as needed.
• Verify accuracy of scale settings and calibrate equipment regularly.
• Record weights and maintain accurate inventory tracking for meat products.
• Communicate with the packaging and shipping departments to ensure smooth workflow.
• Follow company safety and sanitation protocols to ensure a clean working environment.
• Assist with other warehouse duties as assigned, such as loading/unloading and maintaining the work area.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or discrepancies in product weight to the supervisor.

Requirements:

• Previous experience operating scales in a meat processing, food, or manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in weighing and labeling products.
• Ability to work with various types of meat products and follow safety guidelines.
• Basic math skills and the ability to maintain accurate records.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50-85 lbs.
• Ability to work in a cold environment (23-32 degrees Fahrenheit).
• Experience with packaging or food handling equipment is a plus.
