JOB PURPOSE:  The Radiology Quality Assistant (RQA) serves as a liaison for the El Rio Radiology Department and the Radiology Reading Group by providing support with the Picture Archive Communication System (PACS). The RQA will manage and expedite imaging reports within the Radiology Department, associated health partners, and end users.  The RQA will assist in the completion, tracking, and communication of all radiology imaging reports, and will also ensure that El Rio Health patients and radiology staff receive exceptional service by assisting them with a variety of administrative and patient care duties to enhance the effective and efficient delivery of radiology services.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Adheres to Joint commission National Patient Safety Goals
  • Participates in department Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities
  • Tracks and communicates findings of all STAT/Abnormal/Critical imaging reports
  • Confirms reconciliation of correct imaging reports between the electronic health record and the PACS system
  • Ensures all required documentation is scanned into the correct patient’s exam folder in PACS
  • Monitors PACS worklist to oversee completion of imaging reports
  • Monitors PACS worklist for any incomplete exams needing priors, missing paperwork, missing images,
  • Liaise between El Rio Radiology Department Staff and Radiology Reading Group for report corrections/addendums or any other forms of communication
  • Works with all radiology software programs to obtain reports and edit study information if necessary
  • Logs and tracks reading times for radiology reports for QA purposes
  • Logs and tracks all imaging reports that need to be scanned into the patients EHR and PACS system
  • Checks in patients for all radiology exams
  • Identifies correct orders and creates orders if necessary
  • Schedules patient appointments
  • Answers incoming phone calls
  • Prepares patient CD of images when requested
  • Processes and completes any imaging requests
  • Imports outside images into PACS system
  • Attends all mandatory meetings and in-services as required
  • Provides administrative and customer service assistance as requested to support to the front office staff
  • Support front office staff as necessary, with administrative or customer service assistance.

 

Minimum Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or G.E.D.

  • One (1) year of front office experience in a Radiology setting
  • One (1)  year experience working with PACS software

 

Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:

  • A current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for Healthcare Provider (CPR) certification from an approved and accredited training program.
  • Employees in this position are required to have reliable transportation that can meet any operational reassignments of the organization during the workday. If an employee is driving during work hours, the employee is required to possess a valid driver’s license and must be in compliance with Arizona vehicle insurance requirements.

 

If applicable, equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, and must be directly related to the functions and responsibilities of the job.

 

Preferred Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities:

  • Three (3) years’ office experience in a Radiology
  • Three (3)  years’ experience working with PACS software
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
