JOB PURPOSE:  The Facilities Building Maintenance Technician II under the direction of the Facilities Building Maintenance Supervisor maintains building environment and accessibility by repairing and maintaining building equipment, heating, cooling, electrical, plumbing systems, and grounds maintenance.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assists mechanical engineer with maintaining building climate by installing, repairing, and servicing heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and corrects electrical issues associated with lighting, switches, electrical junction boxes and circuit breakers.
  • Performs lighting upgrade retrofit, utilizes voltage testers, receptacle testers, digital specialty testers and multimeters.
  • Maintains and uses facilities maintenance equipment; welder, soldering torch, portable generators, table saw, industrial grinder, power paint sprayer, pressure washer, electric drain auger, etc.
  • Maintains and repairs all clinical and administrative building issues; plumbing repair and install (copper, PVC, ABS), window seal repair and replacement, water filter replacement, water heater flush, fire system emergency lighting test/troubleshooting and repair, door lock sets repair and replacement, install and adjust door closures, tile install (VCT, carpet) ceiling tile and grid install, install and repair drywall, apply tape, texture and paint, repairs damaged parking lot asphalt.
  • Performs and documents monthly elevator inspections and fire extinguisher inspections.
  • Involved in transport and disposal of biohazard waste expired medications, paint, and other hazardous materials/chemicals.
  • Maintains flammable storage lockers and safety data sheets.
  • Maintains grounds by operating, inspecting, and repairing irrigation systems. Maintains private water well that includes filter cleaning, troubleshooting, parts replacement and electrical repair.
  • Maintains continuity by documenting maintenance actions, noting system or equipment irregularities requiring continued monitoring.
  • Reads and interprets building blueprints.
  • Operates in multiple building type trades to ensure the necessary maintenance can be accomplished efficiently to minimize potential clinical or administrative interruptions.
  • Properly equips offices by moving or relocating furniture and equipment, installing modular furniture, installing PT equipment, and reinforcing walls to structurally sound to support requirements.
  • Frames and constructs walls to build offices or work areas.
  • Determines new electrical outlet and data port locations and coordinates contractor support or HVAC for redesign efforts.
  • Manages detailed organization and maintain the facilities storage.
  • Keeps clear and safe passageways.
  • Organizes, develops, and maintains a functioning arrangement for incoming and outgoing facility storage items.
  • Labels all storage items and uploads information into computerized inventory log.
  • Determines the serviceability of unneeded equipment or furniture and prepares for repair, disposal, or sale.
  • Properly stores, date stamps and inventories unused paint and disposal when expired.
  • Maintains facilities supply equipment at all clinics as required and approved by the facilities supervisor.
  • Transports medical equipment as assigned and complies with authorizing a Motor Vehicle Abstract from the Arizona Department of Licensing that is reviewed to assess minimum eligibility for determining driving privileges annually.
  • Adheres to El Rio Health Policies and Procedures governing “Company Use Vehicle” and in accordance with local, state, and federal laws, as well as common standards of safe driving, courtesy and approved number of riders that may be transported.
  •    Ensures materials and tools are stored properly when vehicle is utilized for maintenance / facility purposes.
  • Ensures vehicles are clean reflecting the high standards of El Rio Health and no items are stored on the dashboard.
  • Reports time for periodic maintenance and repairs when operating an El Rio Health vehicle to the appropriate El Rio Health contact.
  • Contributes to team effort; and complies with all facility policies and procedures including but not limited to those addressing HIPAA and Compliance.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and hygienic work environment in compliance with all Policies and Procedures including but not limited to work areas, workstations, examination rooms, hand washing, infection prevention and control etc. for this position.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and proficiency with the application of all compliance and reporting requirements respective to Joint Commission Certification (JCC) standards.

 

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D.).
  • Three (3) years of related maintenance/facilities experience and/or training.
  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older for liability coverages.

 

If applicable, equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, and must be directly related to the functions and responsibilities of the job.

 

Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:

  • Level I fingerprint clearance card: current valid and in good standing or have applied for it within seven working days after beginning employment.
  • Current  Arizona Driver’s License.
    • Incumbent must meet qualification requirements for auto insurance coverage by the organizational insurance carrier.
  • Employees in this position are required to have reliable transportation that can meet any operational reassignments of the organization during the workday. If an employee is driving during work hours, the employee is required to possess a valid driver’s license and must comply with Arizona vehicle insurance requirements.

Preferred Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities:

  • Five (5) years of related maintenance/facilities experience and/or training.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) with the ability to speak, read and write in both languages.
